Appearance
Zig has wavy brown hair, tan skin, and brown eyes. In The Freshman, he wears a white T-shirt and a silver chain tucked in his shirt. He has a tattoo of an owl on his left upper arm.
In The Sophomore, he wears a light gray shirt, a black leather jacket, and a dog tag necklace. In The Junior, his dog tag necklace is tucked in his shirt of his look from The Sophomore.
In The Junior, you have a chance to give him a makeover. You can choose a new makeover, his look from The Freshman, or stay with his current outfit. In his new makeover, his hair is a bit longer and more wavy. He wears black jeans, a black shirt, and a denim jacket with the sleeves rolled up.
Personality
Simply put, Zig is a tough guy with a soft heart. Initially, he comes across as aggressive, socially isolated, and simply not given a break in the world. However, he slowly opens up with encouragement from you and your friends, to the point he becomes comfortable discussing his family and his sexuality with you.
Speaking of family, Zig is fiercely protective of his family. Considering he has four sisters and was raised solely by his mother, Zig has grown up surrounded by strong female role models and has great respect for the women in his life. In fact, he defended his sister Marie when her abusive ex-boyfriend grabbed her while she was trying to move her belongings out. This led to Zig beating him to a pulp and being sent to a juvenile detention center for doing so. If asked about his actions, Zig says that he would do it again.
When Zig is accepted into Hartfeld University via the Second Chance Scholarship, he becomes a little insecure about his place amongst the students. At first, he thinks his roommates in the freshman dormitories are prejudiced against him. Later, with your encouragement, he gives himself a chance to get to know them. Zig does his best to improve on his temper.
Background
Zig has been the man of his house since he was eight years old, presumably when his mother threw his father out. Since three of his sisters are younger than him and their mother was always busy, he would often babysit his sisters. He got his first job when he was seventeen.

Your Character
Zig frequently flirts with Your Character and often compliments your appearance. If you improve your relationship with Zig or return his flirtations, you can choose to become his girlfriend in Book 3, Chapter 17, if your character is single. He also stands up to Sebastian Delacroix for you. After that Zig and your character have been dating almost a year and they love each other and she continues to be there for him.
In The Sophomore, Book 2, Chapter 12, if his confidence is high enough, he will give you a gift that contains a compass from his boy scout days to thank you for being supportive. There is also a picture of him as a boy scout when he was nine or ten years old.
In Chapter 15 of The Sophomore, Book 2, if you are dating him, he will ask you if you want to move in together.
If he is your love interest, he will propose to you in The Senior, Chapter 15.
Chris
Chris and Zig have a lot in common, having both grown up without a dad, being the oldest sibling and having a criminal record. They both seemed to get along well at Madison's party.
Linda Ortega
Linda is Zig's mom, They both seem to have a positive relationship.
Sisters
Marie, Sophie, Lucy and Mila are Zig's sisters. Marie is the oldest Ortega sibling. Sophie, Lucy and Mila are the youngest siblings.
Manny De La Cruz
Manny was a member of Hartfeld’s football team, Knights, and took an immediate disliking to Zig when he joined the team’s offense in The Sophomore, Book 1. At first, it seemed that Manny didn’t like him because he felt that Chris was giving Zig special treatment due to them being friends off-field, but it was later revealed in The Sophomore, Book 1 Finale that Manny was having an inward battle with his sexuality and had developed a crush on Zig. In this chapter, your character walks in on Manny throwing a tantrum in your bedroom, clearly drunk. When Zig tries to calm him down and get him out of your room, Manny thinks he’s making a move on him and kisses Zig without consent.
Zig is reluctant to take the matter to the Dean, and instead opts to help Manny through his identity struggles. Having personally experienced the hardships that come with accepting one’s bisexuality, he tries to advise Manny on how to make peace with it. Manny denies his attraction to men as well as women, and dismisses Zig’s offer of help. After your character demands he apologize to Zig, he does, though forced and insincere. Manny then makes a conscious effort to avoid Zig.
When Chelsea tells Zig that Manny has been stalking her and harassing her online, Zig reveals what Manny did to him, and with your character’s positive influence, they both agree to report Manny for sexual misconduct. With Chris’ support, Manny is removed from the football team and suspended from Hartfeld for a month after being found guilty on all counts. His last appearance is in The Sophomore, Book 2, Chapter 9.
