Your Character in Surrender is the main protagonist of the Surrender series.
Although her default name is "Isabel", the player can choose to name her as they wish. In Chapter 13, the player can also choose her maiden name. Her default maiden name is "Sullivan".
Appearance
Your appearance is customizable according to the player's preferences. You can choose skin tone, facial features and hairstyle. The closet is also available to change your wardrobe.
Personality
In general, you can choose to be hurt, angry, and/or relieved by your circumstances, polite or forthright at your job, but regardless of the player's choices, you decide you want to a "sub" (submissive) to Attorney's "dom" (dominant) personality in Chapter 5. Although you were married and had been with Pat since your teenage years, your sexual experience was limited and you find yourself intrigued by the world of BDSM. You are easy to read, wearing your emotions on your sleeves.
Background
For the last eight years, you have been a housewife in a loveless, rarely intimate marriage. You haven't had a real job since you were married, and you don't have friends of your own that are not friends with Pat.

Relationships
Attorney (Surrender)
In Chapter 1, you meet Attorney at his/her offices seeking representation in your divorce case. Attorney immediately sides with you, revealing Pat's tactics to you as his/her effort to derail you and have you seek an inexperienced and/or terrible lawyer to help you through the process. Pat's betrayal is a reason that Attorney doesn't deal with long-term commitments personally, as he/she feels life is less complicated and more fun when you're not bound by marriage vows. When you show Attorney the handcuffs that you found with Pat when you walked in on him/her with a dominatrix, Attorney tells you that the handcuffs are high quality and doubt it is Pat's first pair.
Regardless of how proper or professional you try to keep your relationship with Attorney, in Chapter 5, you tell Attorney that you would like to be a "sub". As your attraction and sexual frustration towards Attorney grows, your mutual feelings accumulate in Chapter 11 where you two become intimate. It is your decision on how much control you give to Attorney during this time.
In Chapter 17, when Attorney realizes that he/she has fallen in love with you, Attorney decides to end the personal arrangement between the two of you. He/she reasons that you are looking for monogamy, commitment, and love, and Attorney cannot provide that for you. Even when you argue that you never asked Attorney for any of that, Attorney tells you that he/she cannot be the reason that Pat wins the divorce case. Later, while you are out clubbing with Reese and Malorie, you call Attorney and leave him/her a drunk message. You tell him/her about what you did at work, and that Attorney either threw away the best thing that has ever happened to him/her or that Attorney wouldn't know a good thing if it bit him/her in the ass. Either way, you thank Attorney for what you've learned about yourself and for your relationship making you stronger.
Pat Ransic
Pat Ransic is your soon-to-be ex-spouse. Because you caught him/her cheating on you and decided to divorce him/her, Pat had seen multiple attorneys about the divorce case, preventing you from using those attorneys in a conflict of interest, exercising attorney-client privilege. When you were married to Pat, he/she did not want you working, telling you that you couldn't handle a real job and should let him/her take care of it. Later, you also admit to Malorie that you haven't had a friend of your own - one that was not a mutual friend of Pat's - since before the wedding.
Pat was your high school sweetheart. He/she was your first boyfriend/girlfriend, your first kiss, and your first "everything". However, upon reflection, you realize you were not Pat's first. You were married to Pat for eight years, and you realize Pat manipulated you from the beginning and you were too naive to recognize the red flags.
As you tell Attorney, Pat never let you take charge of anything in your marriage. Although he/she claims that you were "hostile to the idea of parenthood" in the divorce papers, you say it was Pat's idea to delay having children. Pat said he/she wasn't ready, that he/she was too busy with work, or that he/she wanted a bigger home first. If asked, you also tell Attorney that your intimate life with Pat was virtually nonexistent towards the end of your marriage. It was as if Pat never wanted to look at you or touch you.
In Chapter 11, when you are angry with how Attorney is treating you, you compare him/her to Pat. You tell Attorney that Pat used to make you feel like you were his/her whole world one minute and then the next, you felt like you were married to a complete stranger. In Chapter 13, you tell Attorney that you felt trapped in a loveless, sexless marriage with Pat.
In Chapter 17, after spending the night at Malorie's after you went clubbing, Pat catches you in the lobby of your apartment building. He/she tells you that he/she knows everything and blackmails you, saying that if you don't give him/her everything he wants in the divorce, he will expose your BDSM life to your boss. Despite the threats, you decide not to give into Pat's demands. In Chapter 19, at the divorce hearing, the judge finds in your favor, stating your requests are to met in full. Pat is livid, and promises that you haven't seen the last of him/her.
