Choices: Stories You Play Wiki

Your Character in Alpha is the main protagonist of the Alpha series.

Although her/his default name is "Tal", the player can choose to name her/him as they wish.

Appearance

The appearance of your character is up to the player.

Personality

You describe yourself in Chapter 1 as stubborn. Channing states you are either "brave or stupid enough to wander the woods at night." You show signs of jealousy and possessiveness when first meeting Kala and seeing her interact with Channing, wondering why she makes you angry since "[i]t's not like Channing is mine."

Background

You transferred to Woolsey as third-year for their environmental science program. Since it was a late transfer, you considered joining a frat. You therefore applied for ΑΤΣ before the start of the story. You can say it was because you wanted to either find friends, people to party with or share your passions. When Channing asks you what made you come to Woolsey, you initially reply that it's because Woolsey has one of the best programs in the country and that your parents were environmental scientists. When Channing says that you want to follow in their footsteps, you add that honestly, something about Woolsey drew you in, something you cannot explain. In Chapter 2, it's first mentioned that you must have had at least one werewolf in your bloodline as you have some latent wolf powers.

Relationships

Channing Lowe

Channing Lowe is your love interest.

Markus

Markus is your neighbor in the dorms and he tries to get you to reveal secrets about ΑΤΣ.

Powers and Abilities

  • Superhuman Speed and Reflexes: In Chapter 1, Kala throws a ping pong ball at you with inhuman speed and you catch it just as easily. Markus also comments on your own superhuman reflexes. In Chapter 2, Channing says that your reflexes are an indication of you having a werewolf somewhere in your bloodline.
  • (Pack) Telepathy: Channing and the other werewolves use pack telepathy to communicate with you and each other while they're in wolf form. It only goes both ways if both want to share their thoughts with each other. You and Channing also use a different kind of telepathy later revealed to be Soulmate Telepathy where you can hear his/her thoughts all the time and she/he can hear yours even when you don't want to project yours.

After becoming a full werewolf in Book 1, Chapter 16, you gain additional werewolf powers:

  • Shapeshifting: You can intentionally or accidentally transform into a wolf at any time, although it takes time for you to gain full control of when to transform.
  • Superhuman Healing: Channing states that she/he is able to heal faster than humans after being wounded during the brawl.
  • Cold Immunity/Body Warmth: Werewolf blood runs hot which is why they usually spar naked. If werewolves wear underwear or normal clothes, it's out of courtesy. In Chapter 10, you have to wear warm clothes for the summit or you will freeze if you decline them. Channing and all other wolves are more protected against the cold by their werewolf blood.
  • Scent Tracking: Werewolves can track the scent of various animals or humans. This includes recognizing the scent of feral wolves.
  • Lucid Dreaming: Werewolves can lucid dream and see the future in their dreams. If a werewolf lucid dreams, they can control how the dream unfolds, and there are no rules and limitations that forbid them from acting on their desires.
  • Dream Walking: Werewolves can dreamwalk into the minds of other werewolves.
  • Superhuman Strength: Werewolves are stronger than humans. In Book 1, Chapter 18, you can choose to punch a boulder which will leave a fist-sized crater in it.

Weaknesses

After becoming a full werewolf in Book 1, Chapter 16, you also gain their weaknesses.

  • Silver and Wolfsbane: Both can be lethal to werewolves. Already touching silver hurts as it burns the skin.
  • Feral: Each wolf has a risk of going feral. This means they lose their humanity and turn into a beast that needs to be put down as they would be a danger to themselves and others.
  • Smoke Bomb: In Chapter 12, Channing tells you that the Hunter's smoke bomb temporarily ruined his/her sense of smell so she/he doesn't know where you are going.
  • Ultrasonic Whistle: In Chapter 19, Markus uses an ultrasonic whistle to put you in a state of confusion and pain. Channing tells you that if you don't change from your wolf body to your human body, you would go deaf.
