The following serves as general guidelines on how to create and edit walkthroughs correctly. We all want to be the best editors we can be and we all want this wiki to grow. The following aren't necessarily rules that you must follow to the letter; they are more along the lines of guidelines to make sure things run smoothly and look uniform. Please keep in mind of the following rules and/or suggestions:

Basics

Under Construction

THIS ARTICLE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Please refrain from editing until this notice is removed.

When you are editing, please make sure to first and foremost check if the "Under Construction" sign is up. Editors may use the template code UnderCon to place this notice while editing to prevent loss of edits. Unfortunately, pages including walkthroughs may only be edited by one user at a time. If one person starts editing and someone else comes to add an edit and hits "save" or "publish", it interrupts the first person and their edits may be lost. Please be courteous and patient to the editor(s) who have placed this warning before proceeding.

Spoiler Alert

All walkthroughs must contain a Spoiler Alert. This is achieved by inserting the template SpoilerAlert, which becomes:

SPOILER ALERT
If you haven't read the most recent chapter and are looking for a walkthrough, be aware that the page is full of spoilers.

Chapter Titles

Chapter titles are written as such: ==Chapter Number: Title of Chapter Choices==

Chapter titles are only included on the walkthrough pages when the chapter has been released. Please do not add chapter titles to the walkthrough ahead of time. This confuses most editors/users who then think the chapter(s) are missing from their games/devices.

Numbering/Naming

As expected, Choices are numbered sequentially in order of appearance. In cases of premium options (clothes, items, and/or scenes), Diamond Choices are also numbered sequentially and run as a parallel set of numbers rather than adding to the numbering of "free" Choices.

  • Options are listed as they appear in-game from top to bottom. If pictures are used instead of words, see below on how to list them.
  • If the player may choose more than one option, the statement "You get to talk to all of them, regardless of order." or "You get to choose all of them, regardless of order." is added after the last option in italics.
    • In these Choices, editors add a name in parenthesis to distinguish between the options. For example, if the options are three Love Interests, the names of the Love Interests are used to differentiate these Choices. If the options are items (such as a flower, book, and candle), those item names are used.
  • If one option leads to another Choice and another option doesn't lead to the same Choice, the first option is considered to break off into another path like a tree trunk (main path) and its limbs (side paths). In these cases, "Path A" or the name of the option is used.
    • For example, in premium intimate scenes between your character and love interest, you may choose to "go all the way" (Path A) or just talk or cuddle. Both paths will lead back to the same Diamond Choice(s) in the end, but Path A will deviate from the main path for a few Choices before returning.
    • Editors may also include "Skip Choice X" or "Go to Choice Y" on the non-Path A option too. However, we ask that editors try to be consistent in this (choosing one or the other) throughout the chapter and possibly throughout the entire book's walkthrough.
  • If there is more than one premium scene or item, Diamond Choices continue with the next corresponding number. If Love Interest A's premium scene has more Diamond Choices than Love Interest B's scene, the numbering for the next premium option follows the higher number. That is, if LI A's scene has 9 Diamond Choices and LI B's scene has 8 Diamond Choices, the next Diamond Choice will be Diamond Choice 10.

Order for Options with Pictures

Walkthrough bb examples 1.jpg
Walkthrough bb examples 2.jpg

This is where it gets complicated. While every editor has their individual reasoning for the order how options are presented, this is the preferred general format.

  1. For two picture options, simple left to right / top to bottom is the preferred way.
  2. For three, four, or five picture options, please refer to the above diagram. Start with the right column top picture as the first option, and move counter-clockwise. Most often, the right column top picture features the first (or if missing, the second) "Love Interest". Why counter-clockwise and why start with the right column? In-game "proof" of numbering comes from It Lives Beneath Choices, Chapter 6, Choice 10's list of suspects and how they are displayed in game and what numbering the game gives "Suspect #1", "Suspect #2", and "Suspect #3". Also, the game usually gives diamond options first before it gives the option to decline. If we start with the top left and/or go clockwise instead, we hit the "decline" option in the middle between the diamond options, which makes no sense.
  • Again, these guidelines are preferred but not restrictive. If you choose to write up a walkthrough and another editor changes the order, please don't be offended. We try to be uniform and consistent but it is not always manageable.

Achievements

If an option taken gives an achievement, such as +Relationship, +Romance points or a pop-up banner at the top of the screen, the achievement is added to the end of the option.

  • Please use appropriate icons if the icons are used in-game. They are: 💎 (for diamonds), ❤ (for romance points), 💋 (for flirt points). Series-specific icons (for example in "The Elementalists, Book 2" or "Queen B, Book 1") are actually images created by editors. If these images are used, please remember to code them properly like:
  • For a pop-up banner, hover text is used. The template is: Hover
    • For example, shows up as This is the title of the achievement, such as "Ready to Go"
  • If a pop-up banner is achieved after a series of previous Choices and is placed between Choice # and Choice #, the hover is placed in quotes and italics, and the conditions of how that achievement is achieved is usually given. Such as "This occurred because you're awesome" if you took both premium scenes with This Person in Chapter X and Y. will show up as "I know you are but what am I?" if you took both premium scenes with This Person in Chapter X and Y.

When options have no achievement associated with them, such as +Relationship or a pop-up banner at the top of the screen, "(No effect)" is added to the end of the option.

If one option is preferred by other character(s) and/or makes your character look good, capable, and/or intelligent, "⬅ Correct" is added to the end of the option.

Timers

If options are "timed", "This is a timed choice!" is added between "Choice #" and the first option in italics. Also, allowing the timer to run out is an "option" but is not given a bullet point (*) due to the fact that a button to "let the timer run out" is not given in-game. The player presses no button to allow the timer to run out.

Now Playing As

The general assumption is that the player is playing as "Your Character". In books where the point-of-view switches, templates are created and used to reflect the in-game note "Now Playing As ...". For help with templates, please contact a senior editor.

If you would like to create a template yourself, please use the following code. You must create a "new page" and name it "Template:insertnamehere" where "insertnamehere" is the name of the character you are creating it for. Note there is no space between the colon and the name. If the name is customizable by the player, we use the default name. For example, in The Royal Romance and The Royal Heir walkthroughs, we use Riley which shows up as:

Now playing as Riley.

The code for preset named characters is:
<p style="text-align: center"><span id=“name of character”>Now playing as name of character.</span></p>

<noinclude></noinclude>

The code for customizable characters is:
<p style="text-align: center"><span id="default name">Now playing as default name.</span></p>

<noinclude></noinclude>
