Choices: Stories You Play Wiki

With It Lives In the Woods have have a blog post about the diamond to nerve yield ratio of choices to help people get the best nerve yield for their diamonds. Although it is still very early in It Lives Beneath I thought I would start one for this book as well, because I will want this. Obviously since the book isn't completed as It Lives I the Woods was when I started that one, information will change as more chapters come out. This also means I am likely to be able to get this one completed in a more timely manor, since I can only add those diamond choices in the chapters that are out.

So far only the MC has a nerve meter, but I expect that to change fast. Also different about this book is that the MC starts at zero, so we are working our way up. We did that with Dan just about and it worked out, but this one is probably going to be a lot trickier since this is the character we will spend the most time with.

As with the previous book people have different reasons for spending diamonds in this book. Some are just straight after their favorite scenes. Others just want to look cool so they pick outfits and hair. Some are after the romance scenes and the nerve points are just bonus. Nothing wrong with either of those things if that's how you want to play. In some books I do go after some of those things, too. Personally, for this book at least, I go after the nerve points and things related to Tom, because with the last book the nerve points really did matter and Tom survived all the things of the last book. He deserves a little bit of niceness in his life.

Depending on why you want to spend diamonds, this may or may not be of use to you. I decided to go through the different diamond choices and see which ones got you the most nerve points for each character in relation to how many diamonds they cost. One thing I did notice with the last book was that the earlier choices to spend diamonds seem to have better return nerve point wise.

You will note that there is nothing listed for the notes collected through out the books. This is because as of yet, there has been no nerve points gained from getting these. This may change at the end of the book, but as it will cost 96 💎 to get all nine lore documents, I cannot see this being a very big nerve return for your diamonds, so I would get those, because you want the lore, only if you want the lore.

While most diamonds in the last book spent only affect one character or your character plus one other, some choices affect all the characters or most of them. We do not yet know how this will work out in this book, but going under the assumption that this is theme in this book any that affect multiple characters will be listed under every character they affect as well as under a separate category for multiple characters.

To keep from playing favorites, the main character will be listed first followed any character that gets a nerve meter in the order that they first appeared. At the end will be the multiple character category.

Main Character / Harper[]

MC - Marissa

No one is likely to have more diamond choices that affect their nerve than the main character does. He or she is dealing with the death of to people very important to him/her and now this. They are the character you will almost definitely see the most of and thus control the fate of the most.

The best diamond choice you can buy for your character so far is the very first one when Tom offers to give you a tour for 12 💎 you gain back 5 nerve points. Although this is the same yield as you get for buying the outfit in the same chapter, it is at a much better cost.

  • Chapter 1 - With Tom - For 12 💎 you can take Tom up on his offer to go for a tour. This will get you a yield of 5 nerve points, slightly less than half the cost back in nerve points. It also gives you a hidden +5 to Tom's nerve score, making it a pretty good return of an over all 10 nerve points spread out between two characters for only two diamonds more.
  • Chapter 1 - For 25 💎 you can purchase an outfit to wear to the yacht party. This will get you a yield of 5 nerve points, one fifth of the cost back in nerve points.
  • Chapter 2 - With Parker - For 18 💎 you can accept a ride home, to your home mind and not Parker's, from Parker. This will get both you and Parker a nice return of 5 nerve points each.
  • Chapter 2 - For 16 💎 you can accept Ned's gift of the bracelet that saved his life. Whether you accept it or not it almost immediately saves yours when his house is broken into and Ned shoves you behind a couch before he is attacked. If you accept it, it gives you an immediate 5 nerve points.
  • Chapter 3 - For 17 💎 you can stay and eat breakfast with Eliot. This gives you a mere 3 nerve points, so it's value is mostly in the chance to talk with Elliot.
  • Chapter 3 - With Imogen and Parker - For 20 💎 you get a lot of things. First you get an immediate 10 nerve points for Imogen. Then you acquire an artifact in the form of a key that will most likely either give Imogen nerve points later or stop her from loosing some. Then you get 2 nerve points for your character and in the next chapter you get five for Parker for a net gain of 17 nerve points so far which makes this one of the most valuable nerve point gains in the book so far. In chapter 7 you get an additional +5 to both Imogen and your nerve score.
  • Chapter 4 - With Danni - For 19 💎 you get to see the photos Danni has been taking which nets you 5 nerve points for you and 10 for Danni.
  • Chapter 4 - With Parker and Danni - For 25 💎 you can befriend an Otter netting you, Danni, and Parker 5 nerve points on the cuteness factor alone. A yet to be identified + nerve yield is added to your nerve score in chapter 14 when the otter returns.
  • Chapter 5 - With Danni - For 15 💎 you can get the seeing stone. This gives Danni an immediate nerve boost of 10 nerve points plus it is the first of five rune items you can acquire. In chapter 7 you get an additional +5 to Danni's nerve score. In chapter 13 it gives both you and Danni an additional +3 to your respective nerve scores.
  • Chapter 5 - With Tom - For 20 💎 you can rescue the coyote which gives you a nerve boost of 3 nerve points and Tom a nerve boost of 5 nerve points.
  • Chapter 5 - With Tom - For 18 💎 you can go to the arcade with Tom this gives you 3 nerve points and 8 for Tom. This will also give you some chances for romance points with Tom if you want them.
  • Chapter 6 - With Tom - For 16 💎 you can accept a book gifted to you by either the old MC or Noah, depending on who died. This gives an immediate +5 to Tom's nerve score and +3 to yours. In chapter 7 you get an additional +5 to Tom's nerve score. In chapter 12 you get an additional +5 nerve points for Tom making this one of the best nerve options for Tom with a net total thus far or 15 nerve points for him and an additional 3 for you, making it with more nerve points than you spend in 💎.
  • Chapter 6 - With Imogen - For 19 💎 you can bring some pastries to Imogen. This gives you +10 nerve points and +5 for you. It also give you some chances for romance points with Imogen if you want them.
  • Chapter 7 - With Main Character / Harper, Imogen, and Danni - For 15 💎 you can give Imogen her weapon which is also the second rune item. This gives her an immediate +5 to her nerve. She gets an additional +10 to her nerve skill in the very next chapter. In chapter 9 you can get an additional +5 to both Imogen and Danni's nerve skills, however, these nerve skills can be gotten without them as well, so these only count to the overall if you get the wrong answer in the replacement choice. In chapter 11 you get another 2 net nerve points for Imogen if you purchased these. In chapter 13 you get another +2 nerve points for Imogen. Having both this and Danni's weapon it will also skip a -1 to your nerve score.
  • Chapter 8 - With Tom and Parker - For 20 💎 you can get a stun baton for Parker. This gives both of you an immediate +10 for each of them. In the next chapter this gives you a +5 to both Parker and Tom, however, Parker's nerve skills can be gotten without them as well, so his only count to the overall if you get the wrong answer in the replacement choice. Tom can only get these points if you have this weapon.
  • Chapter 8 - With Parker - For 16 💎 you can share a hiding space with Parker while trying to escape the cult. This gives you romance opportunities with him along with +10 to both of your nerve points. This is 5 more each than you would get if you chose to hide alone.
  • Chapter 8 - With Parker and Tom - For 20 💎 you can get a stun baton for Parker. This gives both of you an immediate +10 for each of you. In the next chapter this gives you a +5 to both Parker and Tom, however, Parker's nerve skills can be gotten without them as well, so his only count to the overall if you get the wrong answer in the replacement choice. Tom can only get these points if you have this weapon. In chapter 11 you get another 2 net nerve points for Parker if you purchased these. In chapter 12 you get an additional +5 to Parker's nerve points.

  • Chapter 10 - With Imogen - For 30 💎 you can hang out with Imogen. This gives you plenty of romance opportunities with her along with 5 net nerve points for her and unknown amount for you. There are 5 points you can get for free that you don't get if you take the diamond route negating 5 of the 10 nerve points you get with this route if you choose to hang out with her for free later. If you choose to hang out with someone else later, that makes this number come to 8 nerve points.
  • Chapter 10 - With Tom - For 30 💎 you can hang out with Tom. This gives you plenty of romance opportunities with him along with 10 nerve points for him and 5 for you.
  • Chapter 10 - With Danni - For 30 💎 you can hang out with Danni. This gives you plenty of romance opportunities with her along with 8 nerve points for her and 5 for you.

  • Chapter 12 - With Danni - For 19 💎 you can talk to Danni about everything that just happened. This will give a +10 to Danni's nerve score and a +5 to yours along with a chance for a little romantic interaction with her if you so desire.

Tom[]

LI - Tom

The last time around Tom could not die, but now it's his turn to be put to the test and you might want to spend some diamonds to keep him around.

So far the best nerve yield for diamonds comes in chapter 6 when you can choose to accept the occult book from the old MC or Noah, giving 15 nerve points for Tom and 3 for you in exchange for only 16 💎.

  • Chapter 1 - With Main Character / Harper - For 12 💎 you can take Tom up on his offer to go for a tour. This will get you a yield of 5 nerve points, slightly less than half the cost back in nerve points. It also gives you a hidden +5 to Tom's nerve score, making it a pretty good return of an over all 10 nerve points spread out between two characters for only two diamonds more.
  • Chapter 5 - With Main Character / Harper - For 20 💎 you can rescue the coyote which gives you a nerve boost of 3 nerve points and Tom a nerve boost of 5 nerve points.

  • Chapter 6 - With Main Character / Harper - For 16 💎 you can accept a book gifted to you by either the old MC or Noah, depending on who died.
  • Chapter 8 - With Main Character / Harper and Parker - For 20 💎 you can get a stun baton for Parker.
  • Chapter 9 - For 15 💎 Tom can keep this rune wrench. This gives him an immediate +10 to his nerve points and is the third rune item. In chapter 12 you get an additional 5 nerve points for Tom, but lose an opportunity to gain 3 for you. As there are way more opportunities to gain nerve points for you over Tom, this seems a fair exchange.
  • Chapter 10 - With Main Character / Harper - For 30 💎 you can hang out with Tom. This gives you plenty of romance opportunities with him along with 10 nerve points for him and 5 for you.
  • Chapter 11 - With Main Character / Harper - For 18 💎 you can have Tom look at your wounds from the zombie animal attack. Imogen Wescott

Imogen has never believed in any of this stuff. It isn't until he takes over her best friend that she starts to believe, but she still not sure what to believe.

  • Chapter 3 - With Main Character / Harper and Parker - For 20 💎 you get a lot of things. • Chapter 10 - With Main Character / Harper - For 30 💎 you can hang out with Imogen.
  • Chapter 14 - With Main Character / Harper and Imogen - For 20 💎 you can get a chance to spend some time alone with Imogen. This gives you +3 to your nerve score, +5 to Imogen's nerve score, and up to two romance points if you want them.

Parker[]

Parker Shaw

For years Parker has been hearing about people "accidentally" dying in the lake. He is pretty skeptical that it's actually accidents that are happening.

  • Chapter 2 - With Main Character / Harper - For 18 💎 you can accept a ride home, to your home mind and not Parker's, from Parker. This will get both you and Parker a nice return of 5 nerve points each.

In chapter 7 you get an additional +5 to both Imogen and your nerve score.
  • Chapter 4 - With Main Character / Harper and Danni - For 25 💎 you can befriend an Otter netting you, Danni, and Parker 5 nerve points on the cuteness factor alone. A yet to be identified + nerve yield is added to your nerve score in chapter 14 when the otter returns.
  • Chapter 8 - With Main Character / Harper - For 16 💎 you can share a hiding space with Parker while trying to escape the cult. This gives you romance opportunities with him along with +10 to both of your nerve points. This is 5 more each than you would get if you chose to hide alone.
  • Chapter 8 - With Main Character / Harper and Tom - For 20 💎 you can get a stun baton for Parker.
  • Chapter 10 - With Main Character / Harper - For 30 💎 you can hang out with Parker. This gives you plenty of romance opportunities with him along with 11 nerve points for him and 5 for you.
  • Chapter 12 - For 15 💎 you can give the power dampening handcuffs to Parker instead of throwing them overboard like Imogen wants. This gives him an immediate +5 to his nerve and is the fourth rune item.

  • Chapter 14 - If you got enough nerve that Parker stuck around after his nerve check, he will get another +5 to his nerve score here. This is not necessarily a diamond cost as you can get his nerve score high enough without spending diamonds. However, if you are trying to keep everyone, it does cost at least some diamonds to get this, so I am putting it here. You get another +3 to his nerve score later in the chapter.
  • Chapter 14 - With Main Character / Harper and Parker - For 20 💎 you can get a chance to spend some time alone with Parker. This gives you +3 to your nerve score, +5 to Parker's nerve score, and up to two romance points if you want them. All Parker scores from here on out are covered under this category and will only be mentioned if they connect to a specific diamond choice.

Danni[]

Danni

Things have not sat well with Danni for a while and when the police repeatedly ignored her, she started doing her own photographic investigation.

Her best nerve yield for diamond cost appears to be the seeing stone in chapter 5 which not only gives you an even nerve for diamond yield, but also is one of the rune items, so, if combined with the other rune items, will come in handy later.

  • Chapter 4 - With Main Character / Harper - For 19 💎 you get to see the photos Danni has been taking which nets you 5 nerve points for you and 10 for Danni.
  • Chapter 4 - With Main Character / Harper and Parker - For 25 💎 you can befriend an Otter netting you, Danni, and Parker 5 nerve points on the cuteness factor alone. A yet to be identified + nerve yield is added to your nerve score in chapter 14 when the otter returns.

In chapter 13 it gives both you and Danni an additional +3 to your respective nerve scores.
  • Chapter 7 - For 17 💎 you can hang out with Danni. This is mostly good for romance options, but it does give you a +10 to Danni's nerve score.
  • Chapter 7 - With Main Character / Harper and Imogen - For 15 💎 you can give Imogen her weapon which is also the second rune item.
  • Chapter 10 - With Main Character / Harper - For 30 💎 you can hang out with Danni. This gives you plenty of romance opportunities with her along with 8 nerve points for her and 5 for you.

This will give an immediate +10 to her nerve score and +5 to your nerve score. In chapter 13 you will get another +2 to Danni's nerve score. Having both this and Imogen's weapon it will also skip a -1 to your nerve score.
  • Chapter 12 - With Main Character / Harper - For 19 💎 you can talk to Danni about everything that just happened. This will give a +10 to Danni's nerve score and a +5 to yours along with a chance for a little romantic interaction with her if you so desire.
  • Chapter 14 - With Main Character / Harper and Danni - For 20 💎 you can get a chance to spend some time alone with Danni. This gives you +3 to your nerve score, +5 to Danni's nerve score, and up to two romance points if you want them.
