Bloodbound, Book 3
Historical Japan
In Bloodbound, Japan is ruled by a council of vampires known as the Five, which maintains the vampire population and their own security through a strict policy of isolationism and non-reproduction. Takeshi Watanabe, Jax Matsuo's Maker, had temporarily defected due to frustration with the Five's policies at the time that he traveled to the United States and Turned Jax.
All of the Five were turned by Gaius during his and Kamilah's residency there. At this time, Kamilah was also involved with Aiko Nakamura. The Five began to gather power during the 1800s, and now exerts extensive authority over both the vampire and human populations. After Takeshi's defection, the rest of the Five hunted him down and forced him to return to Tokyo under penalty of death.
Modern Day
In Book 3, you and your friends go to Tokyo so that you can work with the powerful psychic Kano Yoshimasa, whom Takeshi told Jax stories about during their time together. Jax is shocked to find his Maker still alive when you get there, and your group is almost immediately taken into custody by the Five. Although they are all angry at your intrusion (and at Takeshi for Turning Jax in defiance of their customs), they agree to let your character meet with Kano, saying that your group can stay if and only if he agrees to train you.
Before meeting Kano for the first time, you have the opportunity to go out with Adrian to visit the famous Tokyo Tower[2] or to go out with Jax. If you go out with either LI, you have the opportunity to tell them that you love them for the first time.
You begin your training with Kano, and he teaches you the basics of using your psychic abilities. In a premium scene, you can extend your training and learn psychic combat. You return to Takeshi's apartment and he and Jax argue. In another premium scene, you can go explore the city with Kamilah or Lily to decompress. If you do, you can confess your love to one of the women. After learning that Kano has accepted you as an apprentice, the Five grant you and your friends safe residency for as long as you are training. They also invite you to a celebration at their club, which you can accept in a premium scene.
Soon after, Gaius attacks. Takeshi takes him on in order to give the rest of you time to escape. He succeeds but is killed in the process. You decide that you need to face him head-on and quickly locate him in the streets of Tokyo. You leverage your psychic powers and gain access to his mind, ultimately undoing Rheya's brainwashing and allowing Gaius' full, untampered personality to resurface. He offers to help you, claiming to have knowledge that will allow you to kill Rheya.
You bring him back to your friends and he explains that he can help you find Demetrius, Rheya's former betrothed, whose blood will turn her feral, therefore stripping her of her intelligence and manipulative abilities and giving you a chance of defeating her in a fight. Although skeptical, you all eventually agree that you have no choice but to trust him. In a premium scene, you hold a funeral for Takeshi before you leave. You then proceed to the island where Gaius says Demetrius can be found in order to collect his blood.
Perfect Match, Book 2
After finding out that Damien is being held by Eros in Tokyo, your character and your friends leave Paris for Japan to recover him. The Rescue of Damien Nazario is ultimately successful, although Dames sacrifices himself to give the rest of the group time to escape.
Although still worried about Eros, you have the opportunity to explore the city. Hayden expresses their desire to try something new and try on an outfit in Tokyo's famous Harajuku district, known for its distinctive fashion.[3] Later, Sloane invites you to go to an arcade with her. After your brief respite in Tokyo, you continue to San Francisco to find Khaan Mousavi.
The Phantom Agent
GAIA's mission in Tokyo is to obtain a painting that is said to contain an encryption key. In Chapter 10, Agent Gray mentions he/she was in Tokyo several times before, dealing with bombs hidden in plushies and with a pop idol kidnapping. Your Character (The Phantom Agent) and Agent Gray go undercover as a wed couple at a museum and meet Haruto Tanaka while Vivian stays at a hotel. During the auction for the painting, it goes to The Contractor. In Chapter 11, you and Agent Gray sneak through the museum to reach the painting before it can be collected by the Contractor, potentially teaming up with Haruto who is revealed to be an intelligence agent. At the end of the chapter, you encounter The Contractor unmasked and you immediately recognize him/her as Rowan Salazar, your ex. You fight against Rowan in Chapter 12; afterwards you and Agent Gray are summoned back to GAIA HQ.
