This is not to be confused with the fictional timeline of each story or how most of the stories share the same Choices universe. This is the historical account of the game from its launch date to the present day.

Timeline

2016

  • August 17, 2016 - Choices was launched.[1]
    • Additionally, Most Wanted, Book 1 was teased on Pixelberry's official Facebook page for their other series Cause of Death.[2]
  • August 17-19, 2016 - Players received 50 diamonds instead of 25 to reward the first players.
  • September 22, 2016 - Oliver confirmed that as far as key regeneration time goes, PB's plan has always been to make keys harder to get while they are short on content and to slowly make them easier to get when they have have more content. The Endless Summer book was also teased during this blogpost.[3]
  • October 5, 2016 - Announcement that the timer for keys was reduced from 3 hours to 2.5 hours.[4]

2017

  • April 14, 2017 - The Royal Romance, Book 1 is the first book to be released on Fridays and started the trend to release books on Fridays as well.
  • August 11-September 1, 2017 - Celebrate Choices' one year anniversary with four rounds of giveaways throughout Pixelberry's social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr).[5]
  • September 5, 2017 - Announcement that a high school-themed book was in the works: High School Story.
  • October 13, 2017 - Announcement that a horror-themed book was in the works: It Lives in the Woods.
  • October 17, 2017 - James's appearance gets a redesign.
  • October 26, 2017 - Release of the soundtrack of the It Lives in the Woods book.[6]
  • November 8, 2017 - Release of the "My Books" section, where you can add/remove books to it.
  • November 10, 2017 - Announcement of Pixelberry's partnership with Nexon, another game company.
  • November 16, 2017 - Release of the soundtrack of the High School Story series.[7]
  • November 22, 2017 - Pixelberry's 100th drop of Choices chapters.
  • December 7, 2017 - Release of the soundtrack of the Endless Summer series.[8]
  • December 11, 2017 - A new story called Home For The Holidays was in the works.
  • December 12, 2017 - Ms. Twombly, Sebastian, Evan, Bill and Keo's appearances get redesigns.
  • December 13-18, 2017 - Choices Holiday Giveaway throughout Pixelberry's social media. Limited only to the residents of the United States.

2018

  • January 16, 2018 - Announcement that Perfect Match (an upcoming sci-fi romance book) and Bloodbound (an upcoming vampire romance-thriller book) were in the works was stated.
  • February 26, 2018 - Release of the soundtrack of The Royal Romance series.[9]
  • March 22, 2018 - Red Carpet Diaries and Bloodbound were announced to be book series instead of standalones.
  • April 9, 2018 - The Junior, Book 1 is the first book to be released on Mondays and started the trend to release books on Mondays as well.
  • April 13, 2018 - Announcement that Veil of Secrets (a new romance-mystery story) will be released soon.
  • April 29, 2018 - Through an Instagram live session at the Bay Area Book Festival, some of the writers confirmed that several of their new books fall under the historical fiction, fantasy and urban genres.
  • May 14, 2018 - Terms of Service and Privacy Policy were updated in order to comply with recent changes to European Union law.[10][11][12]
  • June 1, 2018 - Announcement that a historical fiction story was in the works.[13]
  • June 14, 2018 - Announcement that America's Most Eligible will be released on June 27th.[14]
  • June 21, 2018 - The Historical Fiction book that was teased earlier in the month was confirmed via the summary for the Choices' App latest update with the title being Desire & Decorum, Book 1.
  • July 9, 2018 - Release of the soundtrack of the Perfect Match series.
  • July 18, 2018 - Announcement that Desire & Decorum will be released on Monday, July 30, 2018; which made this the second book to premiere and release chapters on Mondays after The Junior.[15]
  • July 25, 2018 - Desire & Decorum is confirmed to be a series, rather than a standalone, when a sneak peek for Chapter 1 reveals the Book 1 as part of its title.[16]
  • July 30, 2018 - Announcement of two new books coming out at a later date; these being a Western called Big Sky Country, and a Sci-Fi Space Opera Across the Void.
  • July 31-August 9, 2018 - A one time only summer special diamond package became available only to Android users. In a response to a player, it was stated that a similar feature for IOS users might be available in the future.
  • August 7, 2018 - Announcement that Across the Void will be released on Monday, August 20th, 2018.[17]
  • August 10, 2018 - Announcement that Perfect Match, Book 2 will be coming back in September of this year.[18]
  • August 15, 2018 - Across the Void is confirmed to be a series, rather than a standalone, when a sneak peek for Chapter 1 reveals the Book 1 as part of its title.
  • August 17, 2018 - Pixelberry celebrates Choices' Two Year Anniversary since it launched in 2016.[19]
  • August 21, 2018 - Announcement that It Lives Book 2 will be coming back in October of this year.[20]
  • August 23, 2018 - The book cover for Perfect Match, Book 2 was revealed along with the official release date being Wednesday September 5, 2018.[21]
  • August 29-September 1, 2018 - Veil of Secrets, Endless Summer, Book 2, The Crown & The Flame trilogy, Most Wanted, Book 1, and Hero, Vol. 1 receive redesign in the thumbnails of their book covers.
  • August 31, 2018 - Perfect Match is now classified under the "Fantastic Adventures/Continue The Adventure" banner in addition to the "Start/Continue Your Romance" banner; thereby joining: The Crown & The Flame trilogy, the Endless Summer trilogy, Hero and Across the Void respectively.
  • September 4, 2018 - The book cover for The Senior was revealed along with the official release date being Friday, September 14, 2018.[22]
  • September 11-12, 2018- All of The Freshman books, including the specials, received a redesign in the thumbnails of their book covers.
  • September 12, 2018 - Announcement that Big Sky Country will be premiering on Friday, September 21st, 2018.[23]
  • September 13-14, 2018 - All of The Royal Romance books received a redesign in the thumbnails of their book covers.
  • September 14, 2018 - Announcement that High School Story: Class Act, as a soft reboot for the High School Story Series, will premiere in October 2018.[24]
  • September 22, 2018 - All of the Rules of Engagement books, The Sophomore books, and The Junior, Book 1 received a redesign in the thumbnails of their book covers in the Choices App.
  • September 24, 2018 - The book cover and the official name of It Lives 2 was revealed along with the official release date being Wednesday, October 10, 2018.[25]
  • September 25, 2018 - The name for the previously untitled magic book was revealed as The Elementalists along with the confirmation that the player can choose MC's gender.[26][27]
  • September 26, 2018 - The book cover for High School Story: Class Act was revealed along with the official release date being Monday, October 8, 2018.[28]
  • October 12, 2018 - The book cover for The Elementalists was unveiled along with the official release date being Wednesday, October 24, 2018.[29]
  • October 25, 2018 - It was revealed that The Elementalists, Book 1, Bloodbound, Book 1, and It Lives Beneath have been placed under the new spooky thrills section in the app.
  • October 26, 2018 - In the blog post for The Elementalists, Pixelberry teased players to stay tuned for sneak peeks into what's next in Choices... a journey back in ancient history![30]
    • In addition, the Book 1 was removed from Desire & Decorum on this same day.
  • October 30, 2018 - The first sneak peek for the Untitled Historical Fiction Book was revealed via Pixelberry's official Instagram page first.[31]
    • In addition, they also revealed that the name of the new book is A Courtesan of Rome.[32]
  • November 1, 2018 - The book cover for A Courtesan of Rome was unveiled along with the official release date being Wednesday, November 14, 2018.[33]
  • November 3, 2018 - In response to a player, PB confirmed that while they can't get into specifics...They do have a number of books in different genres and settings in the works![34]
  • November 5, 2018 - PB announced that after Chapter 13, Across the Void will be going on hiatus.[35]
  • November 8, 2018 - PB confirmed that they have a number of books in different genres and settings in the works! They hinted at having pirate and a survival/zombie books respectively in the works, though they were careful to say they really can't confirm or deny the potential existence of the two types of books mentioned above.[36]
  • November 13, 2018 - Regarding any details on new books PB is releasing, they told a player to keep an eye out for some hints in the newest blog post they'll release today.[37]
    • They also confirmed that they have 1-2 more books coming out this winter![38][39]
    • One of these new books was teased in the aforementioned blog post by the writers saying that Winter's nearly here, and that means more of Choices -- you'll need your skills, your wits, and the right people for the job in our next Choices book![40]
  • November 17-18, 2018 - PB unveiled the new categories: Perfect Romance & Steamy Romance respectively.[41]
  • November 20, 2018 - Kara Loo and Jennifer Young, two of the head writers for The Royal Romance trilogy, confirmed they have thoroughly outlined a new project they are working on... since they haven't been able to leave their houses due to the Woolsey fires affecting much of California.[42]
  • November 21, 2018 - Pixelberry got 50K followers on Instagram.
  • November 26, 2018 - The Heist: Monaco gets announced as the next book coming out before 2018 is over.[43][44]
    • It was also confirmed via an Instagram response that the player will get to pick the gender for MC.[45]
    • PB also reiterated that America's Most Eligible: All Stars, Red Carpet Diaries, Book 3, Desire & Decorum, Book 2, Hero Vol. 2, and Bloodbound, Book 2 are still in the works.[46][47]
  • November 29, 2018 - Pixelberry confirmed that Perfect Match, Book 2 will be the last in the Perfect Match series. The second time a book series has ended with two books instead of three after #LoveHacks.[48]
    • On this same day, Kara and Jennifer tweeted out that they were working on a sunny scene for their secret project and were in need of song suggestions for their Spotify playlist.[49]
    • In addition, a second trailer dropped on November 29, 2018 with the actual book cover for The Heist: Monaco along with the official release date being Monday, December 10, 2018.[50]
  • November 30, 2018 - Pixelberry gave release dates for several of their books and announced several new upcoming books for 2019 which include a medical drama. They also revealed that new features along with fixes but the bug that prevents players from sometime collecting a reward will fixed in the next major update.[51]
  • December 5, 2018 - The book cover for Desire & Decorum, Book 2 was revealed along with the official release date being Monday, December 17, 2018.[52]
  • December 6, 2018 - Pixelberry released a new update for the app (version 2.4.0) with new features such as a new design of the app, a new library navigation feature, changes in diamond rewards per chapter, and more.[53]
  • December 11, 2018 - Pixelberry released the soundtrack for The Freshman series.[54]
  • December 13, 2018 - PB released a BTS playlist for the Perfect Match series on Spotify.[55]

  • December 20-28, 2018 - PB unveils a holiday Diamond Discount with a 45% bonus for Phones and other iOS devices.[57]

2019

  • January 1, 2019 - PB confirmed that America's Most Eligible: All Stars will come out on Wednesday, January 16, 2019.[58]
  • January 7, 2019 - PB announced a new book titled: Ride or Die: A Bad Boy Romance that will be released sometime in 2019.[59]
  • January 11, 2019 - PB announced that they will likely release the soundtracks for A Courtesan of Rome and The Elementalists within the next couple of months.[60]
    • On this same day, they announced via a Q&A on Instagram that Ride or Die: A Bad Boy Romance will be a female lead only.
  • January 14, 2019 - PB confirms that High School Story: Class Act is a book series now instead of a standalone book.
  • February 1, 2019 - PB revealed that there are more fantasy and/or adventure themed books planned for the future.[61]
  • February 6, 2019 - Andrew Shvarts revealed that he had just seen the cover for a new Choices book and deemed it beautiful![62]
  • February 7, 2019 - The previously untitled medical book gets an official name revealed to be Open Heart and is subsequently confirmed to be a gender of choice story.[63][64]
  • February 8, 2019 - PB teased players about an encounter with the supernatural, traveling the world, the premiere of Bloodbound, Book 2, the interstellar return of Across the Void, and/or something entirely new in their latest blog post.[65]
  • February 12, 2019 - PB released the official cover for Open Heart, with a premiere date for Friday, February 22, 2019.[66]
  • February 14, 2019 - Successive introduction of a new feature to players on IOS that offers a new way of earning diamonds by watching videos. There are several versions of it. In one version, you can now earn a diamond every three hours as long as you redeem. In another version, you can earn 5 diamonds every 22 hours.
    • The very next day on February 15, 2019, the feature was also made available on Android.
  • February 15, 2019 - Deanest, a reddit user on the Reddit Choices group, pointed out that the book covers for Nightbound, the previously untitled werewolf book, were already available to view. However, in order to see these, go to the Choices official Instagram. Hit the three dots in the top right corner, then hit "More About This Account", then select "Active Ads" on the menu that pops up. If you scroll, you'll see the ads themselves.[67]
  • February 21, 2019 - PB changed their icon to the one that appears on Android phones featuring the cover of The Senior, showing Becca Davenport and a version of Your Character from The Freshman series. They also teased players with some cool stuff being in store for later today and for February 23, 2019 as well.[68]
  • February 22, 2019 - Open Heart premiered and it was announced after The Elementalists, Book 1, Chapter 19, that The Elementalists will be getting a sequel.[69]
    • In addition, we also got the announcement of a new book called Wishful Thinking, along with closer to an actual release date for several series; these being the return of Across the Void in March 2019, amongst others.[70]
  • February 25, 2019 - Announcement that Pixelberry will be hosting an official AMA at Choices subreddit on Wednesday, March 6, 2019.[71]
  • February 27, 2019 - Announcement that Nexon, who owns Pixelberry, is reportedly fielding offers from Amazon, Comcast, and EA (PB's former employer) who have all placed bids for a controlling share of the South Korean company.[72]
  • March 4, 2019 - Announcement of a new book called Passport to Romance that will be released sometime in Spring 2019.[73]
    • On this same day, it was also revealed via a reply on their Instagram page that Book 2 of The Elementalists will be coming back sooner than we think.
  • March 6, 2019 - The book cover of The Elementalists, Book 2 was revealed along with the official release date being on Friday, March 15, 2019.[74]
  • March 7, 2019 - PB released a second trailer for Passport to Romance and along with it came the confirmation that this book will premiere on Wednesday, March 20, 2019.[75]
  • March 8, 2019 - PB released the soundtrack of The Elementalists series.[76]
  • March 21, 2019 - PB teased some news coming out sooner rather than later regarding Nightbound, the Untitled The Royal Romance Follow-up Series, Red Carpet Diaries, Book 3, and Bloodbound, Book 2.[77]
  • March 22, 2019 - PB announced two new books, Sunkissed and Platinum, and confirmed that Big Sky Country, Book 2, Red Carpet Diaries, Book 3, and the The Royal Romance Follow-Up were to be released in Summer 2019.[78]
  • March 25, 2019 - PB confirms that Sunkissed and Platinum are both genderlocked books, but that some unannounced books 🙊 with gender options were coming up.[79]
  • April 2, 2019 - PB released a trailer for Wishful Thinking and along with it came the confirmation that this book will premiere on Monday, April 15, 2019.[80] 
  • April 3, 2019 - PB announces Choices Insiders, an email list that will be used for players to get early access to the latest Choices news, exclusive sneak peeks, and more!💌[81][82]
  • April 5, 2019 - PB revealed that the first Choices Insiders newsletter will be coming soon.[83]
  • April 9, 2019 - In their first ever Choices Insiders newsletter, PB announced the name for the previously untitled follow up series to The Royal Romance.[84]
    • In addition, PB released promotional banners for Nightbound and Bloodbound 2. We also got a May 2019 release date for Nightbound, as well as thumbnail covers for Platinum, Sunkissed, Big Sky Country 2, Red Carpet Diaries 3, etc.[85]
    • On this same day, Pixelberry celebrated their 1,000 post on Instagram.
  • April 11, 2019 - PB released the second trailer for Nightbound and along with it came the confirmation that this book will premiere on Wednesday, April 24, 2019.[86]
  • April 15-26, 2019 - PB unveils a Spring Diamond and Key special deal for Android devices.
  • April 19, 2019 - Similar to Deanest, a reddit user on the Reddit Choices group, DisturbedDeaddMan, a wikia user here, pointed out that the book covers for this book were already available to view. However, in order to see these, go to the Choices official Instagram. Hit the three dots in the top right corner, then hit "More About This Account", then select "Active Ads" on the menu that pops up. If you scroll, you'll see the ads themselves.[87]
    • Based on the black/white cover, it seemed that the writers for this book drew heavily from the 2018 film, A Star is Born.
  • April 25, 2019 - PB revealed they will be hosting an Instagram Livestream at 2PM Pacific Coast Timezone on Friday, 26, 2019 where writers for The Royal Heir, Passport to Romance, Wishful Thinking, and more will be present.[88][89][90][91]
  • April 26, 2019 - PB revealed that A Courtesan of Rome would return with its epic final chapters on Wednesday, May 22, 2019.[92]
    • In addition, the official book's soundtrack was released on the same day.[93]
  • May 2, 2019 - PB unveiled a new logo for the Choices Sneak Peek.[94]
  • May 3, 2019 - PB released the May edition of Choices Insiders; they also released information about the Untitled Fantasy Book, Bloodbound, Book 2, Platinum, Sunkissed and a new book called Bachelorette Party.[95]
  • May 13, 2019 - PB released the book trailer for Platinum along with the official release date being Thursday May 30, 2019.[96]
  • May 24, 2019 - The book cover of Red Carpet Diaries, Book 3 was revealed along with the official release date being on Friday June 7, 2019.[97]
  • June 7, 2019 - In the June edition of Choices Insiders, the premiere date of The Royal Heir is announced as June 22, 2019, which makes it Choices' first Saturday release.[98]
  • June 13, 2019 - PB released a trailer for Sunkissed along with the official release date being Wednesday, June 26, 2019.[99]
  • June 27, 2019 - PB released the official soundtrack of Veil of Secrets.[100]
  • July 1, 2019 - The book cover of Big Sky Country, Book 2 was revealed along with the official release date being Saturday, July 13, 2019.[101]
    • On the next day, PB pulled the cover and stated that they were working on a new more original cover. The premiere of the book has been delayed until further notice.[102]
  • July 5, 2019 - In the July edition of Choices Insiders, the new premiere date of Big Sky Country, Book 2 is announced as July 27, 2019.
    • They also teased an upcoming renaissance book from their "Summer Reads and Q&A" blog.[103]
  • July 10, 2019 - The book cover for Bachelorette Party was revealed along with the premiere date being Thursday, July 18, 2019.[104]
  • July 11, 2019 - PB released the official soundtrack of the Desire & Decorum series.[105]
  • July 22, 2019 - Announcement of a new book called Mother of the Year that will be released sometime in August 2019.[106]
  • July 25, 2019 - The premiere date of Desire & Decorum, Book 3 is announced as August 4, 2019, which makes it Choices' first Sunday release.[107]
  • August 2, 2019 - Announcement of Pixelberry's partnership with 1001, an upcoming interactive-story app operated in China.[108]
    • In the August edition of Choices Insiders, the official name of the previously untitled wedding planner book is revealed to be Save the Date that will be released sometime this year.[109]
  • August 15, 2019 - The book cover for Mother of the Year was revealed along with the premiere date being Friday, August 30, 2019.[110]
  • August 16, 2019 - The official names of the previously untitled fantasy book and the untitled nautical book are revealed to be Blades of Light and Shadow and Distant Shores. They are also confirmed to be gender of choice stories. PB also teased an upcoming mystery book and other projects that are currently in the works.[111]
  • August 17, 2019 - Pixelberry celebrates Choices' Three Year Anniversary since it launched in 2016.
  • August 22, 2019 - Announcement that the timer for keys is changed 3 hours for all players[112] after several months in which players reported varying key timers (1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 6 and even 9 hours to receive one key). Back in October 5, 2016, the key generation time was reduced from 3 hours to 2.5 hours[113] and later to 2 hours for most players without official announcement.
  • September 3, 2019 - PB released a teaser for America's Most Eligible: Wedding Edition and along with it came the confirmation that this book will premiere on Wednesday, September 18, 2019.[114]
  • September 4, 2019 - Release of the soundtrack of the America's Most Eligible series.[115]
  • September 6, 2019 - The official name of the previously untitled renaissance book was revealed to be The Royal Masquerade that will be released sometime this year.[116]
  • September 20, 2019 - The book cover for Save the Date was revealed along with the official release date being Sunday, September 29, 2019.[117]
  • September 30, 2019 - Release of a blog celebrating 1,000 chapters, including teases of an upcoming story that is currently in the works and upcoming holiday specials for a few beloved series, including The Elementalists.[118]
  • October 1, 2019 - The title of the upcoming story was revealed to be Baby Bump, Book 1.[119]
  • October 3, 2019 - Announcement that the following series will be getting a holiday special: The Royal Romance, The Elementalists, Bloodbound, and Desire & Decorum.[120]
  • October 7, 2019 - Announcement that The Royal Masquerade will premiere on October 18th.[121]
  • October 14, 2019 - Announcement that HSS: Class Act, Book 3 will premiere on October 30th.[122]
  • October 30, 2019 - Announcement that Bloodbound, Book 3 will premiere on November 9th.[123]
    • Official names of the Holiday Specials were revealed: The Royal Holiday, The Elementalists: Winters Past, Bloodbound: Dark Solstice, and Desire & Decorum: First Snow.[124]
  • November 8, 2019 - Announcement that The Royal Holiday will premiere on November 16, 2019.[125]
  • November 20, 2019 - Announcement that Baby Bump will premiere on December 9, 2019.[126]
  • November 22, 2019 - Announcement that The Elementalists: Winters Past will premiere on November 27, 2019.
  • December 6, 2019 - Pixelberry hosted a livestream where they discussed several sequels and upcoming series as well as stating that they are aiming for their stories to be more diverse going forward because they felt there were too many romance books in 2019.
  • December 20, 2019 - Announcement that Bloodbound: Dark Solstice will premiere tomorrow on December 21, 2019.[127]
  • December 21, 2019 - Announcement that Desire & Decorum: Winters Past will premiere tomorrow on December 22, 2019.[128]

2020

  • January 16, 2020 - Announcement that The Royal Heir, Book 2 will premiere on January 24, 2020.[129]
  • January 17, 2020 - Announcement that Blades of Light and Shadow will premiere on January 29, 2020.[130]
  • February 7, 2020 - Announcement that Open Heart, Book 2 will premiere on Saturday, February 29th. PB also teased an upcoming bodyguard book that will premiere later this spring.[131]
  • March 4, 2020 - The previously untitled bodyguard book gets an official name revealed to be Witness: A Bodyguard Romance and will premiere on March 16th.[132]
  • March 6, 2020 - Announcement that Distant Shores will premiere at the end of the month.[133]
    • One of the VIP books named With Every Heartbeat and two new books will premiere later this spring.
    • PB released a sneak peek of their merch and plan to launch their merch store at the end of March.
  • March 25, 2020 - The official book cover for Distant Shores is revealed along with the official release date being Friday, April 3rd.[134]
  • April 4, 2020 - In the April 2020 newsletter, PB announced that With Every Heartbeat was originally going to be released this month, but got pushed back due to schedule changes.[135]
    • It was also stated the launch date for their merch store was pushed back due to recent events.
  • April 29, 2020 - PB announced a new book titled The Nanny Affair, Book 1 will premiere later this spring.[136]
  • May 1, 2020 - Announcement that The Nanny Affair will premiere this month and two new books will be released in Summer 2020.[137]
    • One of the books will be a school-themed book.
  • May 6, 2020 - The official book cover for The Nanny Affair is revealed along with the official release date being Wednesday, May 13th.[138]
  • May 9, 2020 - Announcement that PB have a small dedicated team working on a Climate Change project. Later revealed to be one of the projects for UNEP.[139][140]
  • June 5, 2020 - The previously Untitled Campus book gets an official name being Queen B, Book 1 and is one of the VIP books.[141]
    • A new book titled My Two First Loves and Queen B will premiere in June. The Royal Heir, Book 3 and a new book will premiere in the summer.
    • Announcement that the VIP feature will soon be rolling out to all players.
    • Announcement that the merchant store will be launching soon. From The Elementalists pins, The Royal Romance t-shirts, Pixelberry phone cases, and much much more.
  • June 22, 2020 - Announcement that Queen B will no longer be a VIP book and will be released on Friday June 26, 2020.[142][143]
    • PB also announced that they plan on rolling out the VIP feature to all players soon.

Prior to the change, the altercation was physical and Victoria pulled your hair. Now, the altercation is purely verbal and Victoria no longer pulls your hair.
  • Book 1 was added in the title in Veil of Secrets, confirming to be a Book series instead of a standalone. It was later removed from the title when the book was launched in June 1, 2018.
  • During an Instagram Live session on June 8, 2018, Pixelberry announced that book two of Hero is in the works and would be released later this year. They just don't know exactly when at this time.
