- On April 13, 2017, the blog revealed that The Royal Romance is technically a continuation of The Crown & The Flame series, as well as a spin-off of Rules of Engagement. It is also a mix of The Bachelor and The Prince and Me.[1]
- On February 26, 2018, Pixelberry released the soundtracks of the series.[2]
- On July 19, 2018, Pixelberry revealed that a Royal Romance filter was available to use on the social media platform Snapchat.[3]
- On September 7, 2018, Pixelberry shared The Royal Romance spotify playlist.[4][5]
- On November 11, 2019, PB released a blog post about the rewritten version that only a part of the players experienced, referring to it as a test that may or may not be rolled out to more players, depending on how testing goes.[6]
- On August 15, 2020, when preparing for the 4th anniversary of Choices, PB posted a 'find the differences' game with this book's cover.[7]
- On December 4, 2020, the Spanish version of the book, El Romance Real, Libro 1, was released, with the first three chapters already available.
- On or around July 25, 2021, PB released a beta-version which includes photos of the characters in different chapters.

Trivia
- The Royal Romance is a spin-off of the Rules of Engagement series. As a result, a spoiler warning regarding Rules of Engagement, Book 1 is issued in Chapter 19.
- The book debuted on a Thursday. Subsequent chapters follow on a Friday.
- This is the first series that lets the player customize one of their love interests.
- This is the first series that gives a last name to your character. It is followed by the High School Story series in second and the Home for the Holidays series in third. As of February 2020, there are 20+ main characters with a last name.
- This is the first book that was released on a Friday instead of a Wednesday. However, Chapter 1 was released early on a Thursday.[8]
- In Chapter 2, Maxwell references Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, who at the time the chapter was released in 2017 was the Duchess of Cambridge.
- Chapter 7 shares the same title as Big Sky Country, Book 1, Chapter 13, "Fire and Ice".
- In Chapter 12, if you win Apple Queen, you will make a reference to Oprah Winfrey by saying "Did I mention apples for everyone? You get an apple, and you get an apple, everybody gets an apple!"
- With 19 chapters, this used to be the second longest book in the game, along with Rules of Engagement, Book 1 and The Royal Romance, Book 2. The first was Rules of Engagement, Book 2 with 21 chapters. This record was broken by The Royal Romance, Book 3, and Across the Void with 22 chapters respectively, and later by My Two First Loves and Witness: A Bodyguard Romance.
- This book features Olivia Nevrakis, a character who is a descendant of Luther Nevrakis from The Crown & The Flame series. This was an early hint to Cordonia being the modern version of The Five Kingdoms, the main setting in The Crown & The Flame, which was confirmed later on.
- Donnie Brine and Ana De Luca, characters from the Most Wanted series, make appearances in this book as part of the press, becoming regular characters in the series later on.
- Between September 13 to September 14, 2018, all of The Royal Romance books received a redesign in the thumbnails of their book covers.
- On July 22, 2019, it was discovered that the summary for Chapter 1 changed from "Love awaits in the royal court of Cordonia. Travel to the beautiful kingdom of Cordonia with the Crown Prince. Will you accept his royal proposal, or will another suitor command your affections?" to "Love awaits in the royal court of Cordonia as you compete for the Crown Prince! Will you accept his proposal, or will someone else win your heart?"
- The Royal Romance, Book 1 is the first book to be translated into a foreign language, Spanish, entitled "El Romance Real, Libro 1". It can be found at the bottom of the Browse page in the category "En Español".
- In Chapter 16 of The Heist: Monaco, if you unlock the good ending, Your Character (The Heist: Monaco) can choose the crown jewels of Cordonia as your next target. If you do so, Your Character mentions having heard that the Cordonian royalty is going through more than its fair share of drama; therefore, they'll likely not even notice anything.
- Chapter 17 shares the same title as Guinevere, Chapter 12, “Lady in Waiting”.
- Chapter 13 contains a bug in which the names of the brown horse and the gray horse got mixed up, meaning that the brown horse is referred to as gray horse and vice versa.
