- The summary of Chapter 2 seems to be a parody of the Gingerbread Man nursery rhyme.
- This is the first book in the Choices franchise to feature a non-binary love interest, namely Zaire.
- This book reuses several mechanics from previous books:
- Fortitude score is similar to Nerve score in It Lives.
- Pivotal choices are similar to hard choices from Wake the Dead.
- Similar to Wake the Dead and the Blades of Light and Shadow series, you can suffer injuries.
