Relationships

Your Character

You and Talent first meet in Chapter 1 and you unsuccessfully try to save him/her from causing a scene with a paparazzo who provokes Talent by asking about Veronique. You then become his/her manager to help Talent navigate the upcoming tour to avoid being dropped by the label, Infinity Records.

Veronique Blanchet

Veronique is Talent's ex and their current relationship is strained. Talent tenses up when a paparazzo asks about her and her album. When Gene arranges for Talent to open for her during her Las Vegas show, Talent exclaims that this would only happen over his/her dead body but ultimately gives in. It's revealed that it was actually Talent who wrote the music of her album and when she receives a Jammy for it, Talent arranges to be the one who hands over the award to her but then causes drama during her speech. Talent still takes offence that she took his/her music and over-produced it without Talent being able to openly talk about his/her involvement without being sued.

Gene Fillmore

Gene Fillmore is a higher up at Infinity Records. In Chapter 1, Gene is angry with Talent for having caused a scene with a paparazzo so shortly before the upcoming tour and brings you two to Mr. Deacon. Even though you two convince them to not drop Talent immediately, Gene still threatens to drip Talent if he/she causes more scandals. Over time, Talent comes to the conclusion that Gene is actively sabotaging the two of you. Talent also reveals that it was Gene who gave Talent's music to Veronique after Talent had to sign away the rights to all the music he/she wrote to the label.

Trivia

  • A male version of Talent is shown on the cover of Along Came Treble.
  • Although all versions of Talent grew up in a lower-income area of Chicago, the exact neighborhood varies depending on the version chosen.
    • Face 1 grew up in Altgeld Gardens, a majority-Black public housing project. It is notorious for being a blatant example of environmental racism and for its inhabitants suffering high rates of significant health problems, such as cancer and birth defects, as a direct result of that discrimination.
    • Face 2 grew up in Back of the Yards, an industrial neighborhood historically populated by European immigrants. Its poor living and working conditions were famously depicted in Upton Sinclair's novel The Jungle.
    • Face 3 grew up in Pilsen, an immigrant gateway. Its demographics began to shift towards majority-Mexican in the sixties after nearby Mexican-American communities were among those seized and destroyed in the controversial use of eminent domain to expand the University of Illinois Chicago.
  • Talent starred in a movie named Vampire Love which was a direct to DVD release. You note that Talent is a better musician than actor/actress.
