Trivia
- This book's general release started on the same day that the VIP early access Dirty Little Secrets ended.
- Chapter 17 shares the same title as Dirty Little Secrets, Chapter 19, "Caught".
- While the book is based on a very well documented historical event, it - like other historical Choices books - takes several artistic liberties.
- For example, you and your sister embark in Cherbourg, France, and you note it to be sunny after your encounter with the thief some time later. The next day, you mention that the Titanic will dock in Ireland the following day. The actual Titanic arrived in Cherbourg at about 7 pm on April 10, 1912 and left it about 90 minutes later at about 8 pm, with the weather described as cold and windy, fine but overcast. The Titanic arrived in Ireland the next day, on April 11.[16]
- In Chapter 7, you, Adele, Theo, two of your male suitors, and Will all visit the swimming pool at the same time. All of them end up in the water at the same time, just in different places, with an additional number of guests playing water polo at the same time. You cause a distraction in form of a swimming race to privately talk to Theo for a while. Theo's presence as a third class passenger in the pool which was restricted to first class passengers is addressed in the plot by him/her having pulled some strings. However, the situation would not have been possible altogether on the actual Titanic as the pool was open for women from 10 am until 1 pm and for men from 2 pm to 6 pm. Men and women were not allowed to bathe at the same time. Furthermore, the swimming pool was only 33 feet or about 10 meters long and 14 feet or 4 meters wide and therefore couldn't accommodate a swimming race, a water polo match, and an unrecognized quiet but lengthy conversation all at the same time.[17][18][19]
- Additionally, the swimwear of male Theo is not era appropriate. The swimwear worn by the other male characters in the chapter is more appropriate as in the 1910s, men wore one piece suits that covered the chest. There were laws in place which were only lifted in the 1930s to not swim bare chested. His swimwear is more in line with swimwear from the 1930s.[20][21]
- Chapter 11 establishes that the Titanic has multiple theaters with attached lobby where lemonade and popped corn is handed out. The real Titanic didn't have any theaters. The closest to a theater was the First Class lounge that could be used to host concerts and other events.[22]
