Relationships
Your Character
You are Sam Dalton's employee, who he/she hires to take care of his/her twin boys. You two are attracted to each other, but Sam tries to maintain a professional relationship with you depending on your actions. In Chapter 2 when Sam hires you, he/she gives you several rules that he/she would like you to follow: no pillow fights in the master bedroom, no 'experiments' after dinner, no Toaster Tarts ever, and never take the subway. When you are unable to reach Carter -- the Dalton family driver -- you take the boys home on the subway which angers Sam. He/she doesn't fire you though, and by Chapter 3, the fight has dissipated.
In Chapter 3, it is Sam's birthday, and if you decide to, you can purchase him/her a gift. In Chapter 4, Sam introduces Sofia to you and if you allow it, Sam will apologize for Sofia's behavior afterwards. Sam invites you to their engagement party and by then, no matter how much you fight your attraction towards Sam or pursue him/her, your feelings for Sam have grown stronger. If you ask Sam why you were invited, he/she tells you that he/she wanted you to be there even though he/she wasn't clearly thinking about the ramifications. You can choose to share a kiss with Sam or leave.
In Chapter 7, Sam tries to play mediator between you and Sofia's difference of opinions. If you decide to go against Sofia's wishes and take the twins to Coney Island, Sam tells you that he/she appreciates you making it fun to learn and let the boys be kids too.
Mickey and Mason
Mickey and Mason are Sam's seven-year-old twin sons. When Sam hires you, he/she tells you that they've gone through their share of nannies, mainly because they act out due to the loss of their mother (about five years ago). One time when Sam was trying to relax in a hot bath, the boys dumped a bottle of Alka-Seltzer tablets into the water and upset him/her.
Sofia Russo
Sofia Russo is Sam's fiancee. In Chapter 4, Sofia gives Sam platinum cufflinks (if Sam is male) for his birthday or a diamond tennis bracelet (if Sam is female) for her birthday. If you decide to ask Robin for details, you learn that Sam and Sofia are not in love. They are entering an arranged marriage to merge Dalton Enterprises and Russo Industries so each of them can become CEO of their respective companies. Sam entered the arrangement willingly, feeling that since he/she already married for love once, it didn't matter the second time because lightning rarely strikes the same place twice.
In Chapter 7, when she tries to be affectionate, Sam tells her that she doesn't need to pretend since she is in his/her home. Sam doesn't think Sofia understands the boys like you do. Even though they have known each other since childhood and their parents wanted them to get married, Sam never saw Sofia in a romantic way and doesn't believe Sofia sees him/her that way either.
In Chapter 20, Sam leaves Sofia at the altar, deciding that he/she would rather be with you and deal with the consequences which include their merged companies' stock plummeting.
Mason Dalton Sr.
Sam's father, Mason Sr., believes that a wife and kids cements a man/woman in his/her life, and that is what he wants for Sam. He will not step down as CEO of Dalton Enterprises until Sam marries Sofia and merges their empires.
In Chapter 7, Sam tells you that his parents want to meet you. Sam explains that he/she had a 'wild youth' before he/she had the twins, which made it harder for Mason Sr. to let go of the company and retire completely. Sam had to earn Mason Sr.'s trust by showing he/she was responsible and the company would be safe in his/her hands. In Chapter 14, during your flight to Italy, Sam reiterates that the arrangement between him/her and Sofia was their parents' idea. Sam explains that after the merger of their companies, Mason Sr. will officially step down as CEO and Sam will take over for him. If Sam doesn't marry Sofia, Sam loses everything and he/she wants Dalton Enterprises to go to the twins as their birthright. He/She believes that if Robin takes over the company, the boys would lose everything too, assuming that Robin would not leave the company to the boys when Robin retires himself/herself.
Robin Flores
Robin Flores is Sam's almost-adoptive sibling. They grew up together and currently work together. When Sam sees you and Robin talking or flirting, Sam becomes jealous or angry. Sam is afraid Robin will take advantage of you (as Robin's reputation is that of a player), and Robin is angry at Sam for leading you on when Sam is engaged to Sofia.
In Chapter 8, Vivian, their mother, mentions that Sam is their eldest child, making Sam older than Robin.
