Relationships

Attorney

When Attorney is notified by Anderson that he/she is needed in Seattle, he/she flies there to bail Reese out of jail. When Attorney arrives, the Police Officer says that Reese will be happy to see him/her and that Reese was involved in a protest about climate change. They seem to have a loving relationship, and both Attorney and Reese consider each other their favorite sibling, even though they are technically half-siblings. Reese thanks Attorney for bailing her out, and when Attorney says that one of these days he/she's gonna leave her in jail, Reese says that it won't happen because Attorney always likes playing the hero.

If Attorney decides to go with Reese to explain what happened to their family, he/she ends up defending Reese from their father and the rest of the family. He/she tells them that Reese is the only one who stands up for what she believes in, and that they could learn something from her. Attorney also says that he/she's proud of Reese for what she did, and Reese thanks Attorney. Attorney tells her that even if he/she is across the country, he/she will always be there for her.

Reese calls Attorney again in Chapter 12, complaining to her older sibling that she doesn't know how much more she can take and that living with her family has become unbearable. Attorney can then advice her to either stick it out, or make a list with the things that she can or can't live without. In Chapter 16, Reese takes Attorney's advice and decides to run away from home. Since she cannot access her trust fund yet, she goes to stay in the penthouse apartment that Attorney had given her the key to, interrupting Attorney's night with you. Later, Attorney finds her another place to stay.

Attorney's Family

When Attorney asks Reese why she didn't ask any of her other family members to bail her out, Reese says that they are too busy with their petty feuds to care what she's doing, and that her father had the nerve to tell her that she's giving their family a bad name. Attorney then tells Reese to not let them decide how she should live her life, and that she's better than all of them combined.

After that, Reese says that it's hard to tell them what happened when it's just her against them, and asks Attorney if he/she could come along for moral support. If he/she does, it is shown that Reese has a very dysfunctional relationship with the family, and Attorney realizes that not one of them seems worried about Reese's well-being.

In Chapter 12, Reese tells Attorney that her stepmother Sheila only talks to her in exclamation points, and that she's not allowed to go to any protests even though they have a permit. She also mentions that her father doesn't allow her to bring friends over because he believes that they are a bad influence on her, despite inviting a Ponzi scheme[1] guy over for dinner himself. Attorney points out that "hypocrisy" is their father's middle name.

Your Character

In Chapter 17, Reese comes over to your apartment since you had been ignoring her texts. When she sees how miserable you are, she calls her sibling a jerk, and decides to take you out. You invite Malorie along, and the three of you go clubbing.
