You are an asterisk in a footnote of the story of my rise to greatness, but I am the sun that's about to eclipse your lifetime of irrelevancy.
— Poppy to you[1]

Poppy Min-Sinclair, a character in the Queen B series, is a student at Belvoire University and the primary antagonist of Book 1. She is also an eventual love interest in Book 2. She is first seen in Book 1, Chapter 1.

Appearance

Poppy has fair skin, brown eyes, and blonde hair. She wears a pink jacket over a white blouse with beige skirt. In Book 2, she is noted to be five feet two inches tall (157.48 cm).

Personality

"If you tell anyone about this I will flay you and use your dangly skin flaps to weave a picnic basket."
—Poppy to your character, about her love for animals

While Chloe is more rash and emotional, Poppy is calmer and uses her words to cut everyone around her. She believes she is superior to everyone. The professor describes her as ruthless, manipulative, and extremely narcissistic. She uses other people to stay on top. Zoey states Poppy expects people to grovel to her.

Unbeknownst to most people, Poppy has a soft spot for animals. When she was eight years old, she wanted a dog but her parents said no. Instead, they bought her an animal shelter and since then, she has been helping the shelter by creating exposure to encourage others to come and adopt.

Poppy is revenge-driven, untrustworthy, and manipulative. As a Scorpio, you never know when she will sting. She has Gemini rising in her sign, which means she is also two-faced, but coupled with being a Scorpio, Poppy is perpetually a catty she-devil.

Relationships

Your Character

On your first day at school, Poppy tells you who she is, how you are basically a nobody, and insults your fashion tastes. She says you don't belong in Belvoire and that you'll learn it soon enough. You find her elitist and cruel.

Whenever you cross paths with her, she continues to insult you and belittle you. In Chapter 4, you learn that she had her "minions" sabotage your halftime show prop. When you still perform and outshine her, she becomes hysterically angry, blaming everyone but herself.

In Chapter 6, you are assigned to be her partner in your Mass Communications class. She comes up with the project idea without your input, but before you two can discuss it, she hurries off. She texts you directions to meet her later, introducing you to the Alphas and Zetas hidden getaway and surprising you with the offer of a truce. At the animal shelter, you two film a commercial as your class project and you have the premium opportunity to adopt a puppy and steal her spotlight. Whether you do or not, she recruits you to help her knock Chloe from the top rank.

In Chapter 7, you meet with Poppy and her new boyfriend at Club Malibu. She wants you to feed her boyfriend lines through an earpiece and microphone to charm Chloe and set her up for ridicule. If you're a "good girl", you decide to warn Chloe ahead of time so her shame isn't as enormous but is still enough to knock her back to rank 2. Afterwards, Poppy invites you for a "girl's night" where if you choose to, you two can become intimate. If you choose to go with her, you also get some tantalizing gossip from her phone and screenshot her texts and send them to your phone for future use. After the "girl's night", she texts you later and calls off the truce. She also posts for the public to view a video of you hog-calling on your parents' farm.

In Chapter 8, if you declined the "girl's night", Poppy continues to gloat about having one-upped you with the video. You decide to ignore her and lay low. If however you accepted the "girl's night" and have the damaging screenshots, you decide to retaliate by posting them. This infuriates Poppy who blows up your phone and threatens to ruin your life and the lives of your future great grandchildren.

In Chapter 10, she tries to defame you by saying that Benji was not your stalker but was your boyfriend. She also has a billboard constructed of a remix video playing your hog-calling. If you stole the information from Benji's laptop, you had just submitted it to 'The T' and it is released shortly after her giant billboard, taking attention away from it and back to her. If you recruit Thomas Stiles, he gives you evidence that her mother had an affair with a Hoboken preschool teacher named Art Nakamura. You will decide what to do with the information at a later date. In Chapter 13, if you decide to break into her locked box, you find letters to and from her and Art Nakamura. You piece together that Art is Poppy's biological father. If you do not recruit Thomas nor do you break into her locked box, you do not learn any of this information.

In Chapter 14, she realizes that you deleted the incriminating photos she had of you and Professor Kingsley.

In Book 2, Poppy is still rude, spiteful, and insulting to you regardless if you achieved Rank #1 or helped Chloe to surpass her and win the Person of the Year award. You can still flirt with her if you choose to, of which she will respond to, and in Chapter 6, you can become intimate with her (again). You also can form temporary truces with her, which are also short-lived. She believes X is obsessed with her and is intent on erasing her off The T out of revenge. She believes X is someone that she scrubbed out of existence and that he/she is trying to do the same to her.

As one of the Top 15, she is one of your competitors to become an Apoidea member. In Chapter 8, she comes upon you and Liam in the hallway during the murder mystery challenge. If you choose to accuse her of being the murderer, the voice over the intercom tells you that you're incorrect. She offers you a truce to team-up to find the murderer. She claims she is a civilian, but when you accuse Selene, Carter, or Erik of being the murderer and are incorrect, she gloats over you. Since you announced your presence to the real murderer, you're eliminated from the competition and Poppy -whose role as the "traitor" is revealed- advances to the next round. She also takes your place on the new ranking system against X.

Chloe St. James

Chloe is Poppy's second-in-command. Since they rank as the top two students in the rankings, they use their power to bully others. If you decide to listen to Professor Kingsley's research about Poppy, he/she will reveal that Chloe was a timid student during her freshman year, but changed after Poppy helped her "stand up for herself". Since Chloe is grateful to Poppy, Chloe helps her retain her Queen B status.

In Chapter 6, Poppy is livid that Chloe stole her top spot although the details as to how that was accomplished remain to be seen. At the secret Alphas and Zetas hideaway, she has a couple Alpha football players kick Chloe out when she comes. In Chapter 7, Poppy reveals to you what she had her boyfriend Bradley do. Apparently, he started liking all of Chloe's social media posts and private messaged her as if he was interested in her. She had him build up her self esteem and wanted him to destroy it publicly in front of clubgoers at Club Malibu. However, you warn Chloe ahead of time not to believe Bradley so she is not as embarrassed as Poppy wanted her to be. The club scene effects her reputation, and by the end, Chloe has dropped back down to #2 and Poppy moves ahead to #1.

In Chapter 11, she and Poppy make out with each other during the bacchanalia. If you decide to recruit Chloe in Chapter 14, she tells you about how it used to be between her and Poppy. Poppy was her first friend at Belvoire. They had joined Zeta together and Poppy took Chloe under her wing, helped her update her wardrobe, and helped her increase her reputation. Poppy even told her once during their freshman year that she was tired of getting third place trophies, so her parents bought her first place trophies. They were better friends back then, before Poppy became obsessed with staying number one and beating everyone else.

Carter Jackson

Carter is Poppy's boyfriend of two years. Professor Kingsley's research tells you that Carter is the golden-type popular boy and Poppy keeps him in check to prevent him from outranking her. Before they started dating, Carter was popular because he was well-liked by students and faculty. To keep her title, Poppy dates him to show the school that she is together with the school's beloved student. Professor Kingsley also reveals that although Carter seems to genuinely care about Poppy, he seems happier when she is not around and cutting him down. In Chapter 4, she breaks up with him because he helped you with your dance performance.

Veronica Lombardi

If you decide to listen to Professor Kingsley's research about Poppy, he/she will reveal that Veronica has half a million more followers than Poppy. To keep her title as Queen B, Poppy became friends with Veronica in order to gain more exposure through Veronica's social media accounts and boosts her reputation with Veronica walking with her around campus.

Taylor

Taylor is the "terrified girl" who is Poppy's assistant. In Chapter 4, Poppy threatens to oust her from the Zeta sorority if she doesn't shape up. Poppy blames her for your success because Taylor didn't think of a way to stop you from performing.

Bradley Denbrough

In Chapter 6, she introduces her boyfriend Bradley, an actor. In Chapter 7, she uses him to humiliate Chloe but in the good girl route, you warn Chloe about him. In Chapter 9, you discover an article draft by Benji Knoll when browsing the latter's computer. The draft states that there is proof that they are a sham and that the only reason he is pretending to date her is that Poppy is bribing him with a movie deal. The draft includes the names Bradpop, Popley, Broppy, Pradley, and Podley to refer to the couple.

Michael Spoors

Michael's parents are friends with Poppy's parents, which is the reason he is "friends" with her even though his therapist tells him that it isn't good for him to surround himself with people who bring him down. In Chapter 4, if you act as a bad girl, he will confess he can't stand Poppy's behavior and tell her she is officially off Alpha's invite list. In Chapter 11, if you decide to play 'Suck and Blow' with Poppy, Michael, and the inner circle and you decide not to kiss Poppy yourself, you volunteer Michael. Poppy will refuse and Michael will protest that they had done something similar during their freshman year, to which she angrily says they don't speak about that.

Chelsa explained, "For Poppy to be a true LI, she'd have to be redeemed, and I just never saw her as the kind of girl who would ask for that chance. She'd either figure out a way to get the upper hand or burn everything to ash and start over somewhere new. I like to think of that final heart choice as a kind of acknowledgement that she'd never forget you and there is something between you... Even if that something is, 90% of the time, murderous intent."[2]
