• On January 16, 2018, this story was teased in a blog post as upcoming story, together with Bloodbound.
• In Pixelberry's "What's Next" blog, a confirmation that Perfect Match will be released at the end of February was stated.
  • Furthermore, they also confirmed that a broader range of love interests will be available in this book, as well as the choice to choose your own gender.
• On February 14th, 2018, three of the various "Perfect Match types" were revealed throughout Pixelberry's various social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter).
  • On February 15th, 2018, the Dreamer Love Interest was revealed via Pixelberry's official Tumblr account.
• On February 20, 2018, Pixelberry released another poster, this time featuring a "best friend" type with the other "perfect matches" revealed thus far. They also revealed that the book cover for the book will be released on February 21, 2018.
  • In Tumblr, one of the tags is "#pro-tip: there's more than 4 types", thus confirming that there will be more types to be revealed.
  • Additionally, Chelsa, one of the writers at Pixelberry, confirmed that one of the other perfect match types would be a rebel.
• On February 21, 2018, Pixelberry released the cover for the book. They also revealed that the book is scheduled to come out on Wednesday, February 28, 2018.
  • The cover revealed a version of Hayden and Your Character who are shown in the cover for this book.
• The first two chapters were released on its launch date instead of one.
• On February 27, 2018, Pixelberry dropped a video about the matchmaking service Eros.
• In Pixelberry's "Perfect Match" blog, it was announced that there will be two other people you can date in this book: Damien or Sloane.
• On April 17, 2018, Pixelberry revealed to a player that the book could go anywhere from 13 chapters to 18.
• On June 4, 2018, a sneak peek confirmed that Perfect Match will end with Chapter 16. However, it does not say "Series Finale" but rather simply "finale", which hints at a possible second book.
• A second book was further hinted at following the conclusion of this book with a to be continued... and on June 7, 2018, it was confirmed via Pixelberry's Book Club.
• On June 26, 2018, it was announced that Book 2 is set to return in Fall 2018.
• On July 9, 2018, Pixelberry released the soundtracks of the series.
• On August 10, 2018, a sneak peek for Book 2 was released and is stated to return in September 2018.
• On August 31, 2018, it was revealed that Perfect Match is now classified under "Fantastic Adventures/Continue The Adventure" banner in addition to "Start/Continue Your Romance", thereby joining: The Crown & The Flame, Endless Summer, Hero, and Across the Void respectively.
  • On December 6, 2018, Pixelberry released a new update with new categories. Since then, Perfect Match can be found in the categories "Exciting Adventures", "Romantic Drama", "Circuits and Sorcery", and "Suspenseful Mysteries".
  • In July 2020, the Circuits and Sorcery category got renamed. It is now called Sci-Fi and Fantasy.
• On December 13, 2018 PB released a BTS playlist for the Perfect Match series on Spotify.

Trivia

• This book was released simultaneously with High School Story, Book 3.
• This is the only book where you can choose the gender and personality of a love interest.
• It is the first book under the Science Fiction (Sci-Fi) genre, which is one of the new genres introduced in Choices.
• This is the second book where you can choose the look of a love interest, the first being The Royal Romance, Book 1.
• There are a total of 16 personalities that you can be matched with.
  • The personalities are made of four general traits: Outgoing or Mysterious, Rebellious or Sweet, Humorous or Sincere, and Impulsive or Logical.
• This is the fourth story where Your Character has a last name, following The Royal Romance, High School Story, and Home for the Holidays.
  • However, like Home for the Holidays and later Across the Void, It Lives Beneath, and Mother of the Year, the last name cannot be changed. In this case, it is "Park".
• In Chapter 2, Damien makes a reference to the 2004 classic Mean Girls when he says, "How was your perfect evening with your perfect guy? Was everything perfection?".
  • This is paying homage to Janice Ian saying to Cady Heron "Did you have an awesome time? Did you drink awesome shooters and listen to awesome music, and then just sit around and soak up each other's awesomeness?"
  • In the same conversation, after you have received the bouquet from Eros, Damien ironically calls the story of you and your match "the Hallmark story for the ages".
• In Chapter 3, the cover of The Crown & The Flame, Book 3 can be seen as a movie poster on the right side of the background, as well as an image of Ryan Summers on the left side.
• 'A Battle of Crowns' was first mentioned by Steve in Chapter 4, since they mentioned that they both recently started it.
  • In Chapter 7, Nadia further talks about a beheading of a beloved character in season 2 of this show. It is hinted at possibly being a parody of the HBO TV show Game of Thrones, some sort of spin-off of The Crown & The Flame (since the original TV series in the Choices Universe has ended).
• In Chapter 11, you are given the options to remain exclusive with your match, keep your options open (which also allows you to potentially date/romance Sloane and Damien) or break up with your match (and thus pursue the other LIs).
• In Chapter 13, Sloane confesses her love for Your Character and Damien also tells you when he knew he loved you.
• In Chapter 15, it is mentioned that recruiting Alana will "alter future storylines", hinting at potential sequel.
  • Also in Chapter 15, you are given the chance to change your MC's appearance one last time before "the finale", thus hinting that Chapter 16 will be the final chapter in the book.
• With the reveal of Harley, a 2.0 version of Hayden in Chapter 14 and the other twelve copies of Hayden in Chapter 16 at the Eros facility, the writers also seem to be paying homage to the BBC America series Orphan Black (the main difference between the two is that Orphan Black is about human clones while Perfect Match is about androids).
• Prior to the summary on the app for this book being unveiled, the previous summary read as: An exclusive matchmaking service guarantees that they can find your perfect match. But is true love too good to be true?
• Chapter 10 shares the same chapter title as It Lives In The Woods, Chapter 13, "Fight or Flight".
• On January 21, 2019, a new cover for Perfect Match, Book 1 was added in the app.
• On July 22, 2019, it was discovered that the summary for Chapter 5 changed from "You and your friends survived a car crash, but can you survive meeting the parents?" to "In the hospital, you finally meet Steve's father. But is he hiding something?"
• The inability of Matches to experience an emotional response to art is a common Easter egg in other Choices books. The setup for the joke often involves giving the player the choice to select 'indescribable' as a dialogue option, causing a character to imply that they might be a match. References of this kind appear in:
  • Passport to Romance, Chapter 14 (premium scene), Sumire Nagasawa says that seeing Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower was "indescribable".
  • Sunkissed, Chapter 2, if you say that you're 'not really into art.'
  • Mother of the Year, Chapter 9, if you go out with Faye and Alma.
  • The Nanny Affair, Book 1, Chapter 7, if you decide not to take Mickey and Mason to Coney Island.
  • The Royal Heir, Book 3, Chapter 3, during Penelope's flashback.
• In The Heist: Monaco, if you get Your Character (The Heist: Monaco)'s good ending, one of your future potential targets is Eros' top secret blueprints and schematics of heavily guarded robotic tech which have turned up on the black market in New York.
