Current & Unconfirmed Theories
- You as the Titans' Backup Plan: After the war between the Titans and the gods, the defeated Titans or their loyal followers like Hecate or some ancient beings, secretly passed down a special power through a human bloodline. That power is inside you. It stays hidden unless certain things happen, like if the gods on Olympus become weak or if you show strong courage by standing up to fate.
- Big Bad's Identity: Players have multiple theories as to the identity of Demeter's kidnapper.
- Some of the pantheon aren't entirely happy with Zeus's rules about how to interact with the modern world. If Demeter shared those opinions, it's possible Zeus removed her from a position of power in order to keep her from convincing the others to go along with her rejection of his orders.
- Triton struck some players as suspicious with his urgent request to speak to Poseidon for an unknown reason in Chapter 7. As a sea god himself, he would likely have some power to hide Demeter's captivity inside Poseidon's domain, and may also have sent the storms which require Poseidon's attention and prevent him from continuing to help you on your quest.
- It's been theorized since the beginning that Kronos was not entirely killed and has been gradually working his way back to a position of power over the centuries since his defeat. Alternately, it's thought a worshipper or loyal assistant may be working on their own to bring him back to life. In either case, neutralizing a goddess of life and death may be one part of that plan.
- Because Artemis's absence from the pantheon had been remarked on by a few characters and Apollo has admitted he's unsure of her current whereabouts or activities, some have wondered if she might be involved. This would likely tie into the theory about Demeter's kidnapper not having a malicious motive, considering the Chapter 6 scene which reveals that Artemis is still upset with Apollo centuries later for Seeing an unpreventable vision of her best friend's death.
- Big Bad's Motive: It's been theorized that Demeter's kidnapper may have relatively benevolent intentions. Since she governs life cycles and her kidnapping stopped all deaths until you took her place in the pantheon, it's possible she was taken by someone generally lacking malicious intent whose goal is to keep people alive or prevent the death of a specific loved one.
- Your Death: In Chapter 6, you witness Apollo's vision of your apparent death. Some have speculated that you'll be saved through the sacrifice of another character, likely Demeter, expending all her powers to keep you alive. Alternately, it's thought you might be granted full-god status in time, and therefore gain the immortality that comes with it.
