Quote2
I'm not just a priestess. I'm not just what the Temple wants of me. I'm not just a vessel for the Light. I'm... me. And I'm going to save this godsdamned world.
— Nia Ellarious to You[1]

Nia, a character from the Blades of Light and Shadow series, is a Priestess of the Light and one of Your Character's love interests. She is first seen Book 1, Chapter 1.

Appearance

Nia has brown eyes, long wavy red hair, and tanned skin. In Book 1, she wears a pink gown with pearls on it. In Book 2, she has tied her hair into an updo braid, and she wears a pair of white pearl earrings, a long white and golden sleeveless dress with patterns, two white sleeves, and a golden bracelet with a white pearl on her upper arm.

Personality

Nia is polite and quiet. She doesn't encourage fights and tries to stay peaceful. She has a friendly behavior and cares about the ones she is close to, she doesn't hesitate to fight for them if needed.

When she becomes Shadow Nia, she is cold, uncaring, sarcastic, and quite literally the opposite of her normal self.

Background

When Nia was an infant, she was adopted by the Temple of Light in Whitetower and has lived most of her life there. She only left the temple to perform services with other priests, such as delivering alms to the poor and healing the sick; she never visited the sites of Whitetower themselves. She never had to use battle magic in a real scenario until she and Scholar Vash started their pilgrimage to visit all the temples of Light throughout the kingdom. Scholar Vash was the closest person she had to a father-figure, and she knew him better than her own parents. He taught her everything she knows and he believed one day she would become a great priestess, healing the sick, protecting the weak, and holding the darkness at bay.

Relationships

Your Character

You meet Nia in Book 1, Chapter 1 when she runs into you and Kade, searching for help. An adventurer at heart, you jump at the chance and follow her into the forest where you defeat an owlbear that is attacking Scholar Vash. They ask you and Kade to guide them to the Temple of Ellara, and there after a sequence of events, she joins your party to fulfill Scholar Vash's mission: to find the onyx shards, purify them, and stop the Shadow Court from returning.

In Book 1, Chapter 3, at Port Parnassus, you can choose to socialize with her and Mal at the local tavern. There, she will have her first drink of alcohol and you can decide to dance with her.

Mal Volari

She persuades Mal Volari to join your party by promising him that the Temple of Light will compensate him.

Threep Pompedorfin

Nia recognizes Threep's species when he emerges from the green crystal. She tells you and Mal that nespers were the beloved advisers of the ancient elves before the Great War. When he joins your party, she places Threep inside her bag to keep him safe and to hide him from the prying eyes. Even inside her bag, he can still sense darkness and alerts you and your party about the Shadow influence surrounding the mayor of Port Parnassus.

Tyril Starfury

When your party bumps into Tyril Starfury in Parnassus, Nia can feel the energy and power emanating from him. Later, when he joins the party, she offers him the top bunk bed when he protests Mal offering the beds to you and Nia first. However, her unpretentious manner disarms him and he withdraws his objection.

Dreadlord

After Aerin Valleros abducts Nia and pulls her into the Shadow Realm, a ceremony is performed where the Dreadlord inhabits Nia's body and awakens. Nia resists the Dreadlord several times, angering the Dreadlord who wants to break her and crush her will.

When she is the Dreadlord's vessel, she realizes that the Blade of Shadow was not always the Blade of Shadow, that it had once been the Blade of Light and had been corrupted. With her power, she is able to remove the corruption and bring it back to the Blade of Light. She tells you that with the Dreadlord inside of her, he is vulnerable and can be defeated if you kill the vessel encompassing his essence. However, he is fighting her and she knows she cannot hold him at bay forever. When you kill her, he is finally defeated.
