Appearance
Nat's appearance is customizable according to the player's preferences.
Personality
Nat can be described as confident, flirtatious, and mischievous. Male Nat has a progressive view of the position of women in society, ready to teach you any subject you want to learn without judgment and stating to believe that one day, "women won't need to trade their wants and needs for security and standing". Upon learning that your husband has an affair, Nat tells you this knowledge gives you power that you can wield.
Background
Natalie's father is a distant cousin to the Earl of Beaulieu, making her neither wealthy nor titled enough to catch the interest of those in the aristocracy or gentry. Her father is quite liberal, supporting Nat in her endeavors to make something different of herself.
Nathaniel is a distant cousin to the Earl of Beaulieu, but he himself falls firmly into the broad swathe of 'respectably born with no real prospects'. By this, he means he doesn't have a title nor any wealth or estates that would catch a prospective bride.

Relationships
Your Character
Nat is the tutor your husband hires to teach you. You find yourself attracted to Nat, and you can choose to flirt with him/her or try to keep distance between you two. No matter your choice, you find yourself thinking lustful thoughts involving Nat, and though he/she cannot read your mind, Nat often makes sexual innuendos towards you. You try to remind yourself not to indulge in such fantasies because your mother and sister rely on you to stay married to the Duke for their social status and you believe the Duke would not stand for such scandal. However, when Nat informs you that he/she cannot remain in your employment forever and that your studies with him/her will eventually end after a few months, you are upset at the thought of your relationship with Nat ending.
When you confront Nat about this, Nat tries to minimize the affections he/she feels for you. It takes the hunting trip and your brush with danger for you two to be more candor with your words. In Chapter 10, after discovering your husband's tryst, you tell Nat about your feelings. Even if you do not directly romance Nat, you feel that your internal turmoil was unfaithful to your husband and now you feel betrayed by Lawrence as well.
Lawrence Bedford
He is your husband and the one who hired Nat as your tutor, mostly to keep you occupied. At the end of Chapter 16, he catches you and Nat together. Even if you previously resisted Nat's advances or did not romance Nat fully, you two share a kiss which Lawrence and Sir Somerville happen to walk in on. Because he views this as a "betrayal" on your side, he considers leaving you and allowing your reputation to be tarnished in the process. However, Nat convinces him that he would lose the prestige of your family's heritage and it would ruin him as well. To save you both from that fate, Nat challenges Lawrence to a duel, which he accepts.
