What do I care of the court? I realized long ago that they were always going to revile me as much as they loved you. So once I realized I could not stop the rumors of magic and villainy they spread about me, I embraced them. To protect Mordred against the day he is discovered. To be so terrifying that no one dares touch him. I did what I had to... and I would do it again.
— Morgana to Arthur/Artura[1]

Morgana, a character in the Guinevere book, is Arthur/Artura's half-sister. She first appeared in Chapter 3.

Appearance

Morgana has green eyes, long brown wavy hair, and tan skin. She wears a silver headband and necklace with rubies, and a long black and red dress with silver decorations. She is also described as a beautiful woman.

Personality

Morgana can be described as chilly and cold. She is not as easy to read as people think, and Arthur/Artura says that she has always been complicated. If you see a vision of the past, she is seen being nice and caring towards her family. According to Gawain, Morgana has her own goals, she is not concerned with chivalry or honor, and has her own morals. Kay on the other hand believes that she does whatever she pleases to get what she wants. In Chapter 7, you can tell her that she is difficult to get to know; she says that she prefers it that way.

Background

Not much is known about Morgana, but it is rumored that she is a witch. When Merlin mentions the witches of the north country who commonly use dark magic, Arthur/Artura tells you that Morgana spent much of her childhood in the north before he/she came to court. She also didn't know about Arthur/Artura's existence for half of her life. In Chapter 8, she says that she is an orphan and confirms the rumors of her being a witch.

Relationships

Your Character

You are introduced to her for the first time during the feast celebration in Chapter 3. She asks how you feel about Arthur/Artura, and you in return ask her the same. However, she says that it's a personal question and that she doesn't wish to answer further. If you say you wish to know each other better she refuses, and if you ask her why she's back at Camelot, she says she was curious about you, and that she's not impressed by you. In Chapter 7 if you express gladness for her presence and optimism for the hunt, she says that you sound like Arthur/Artura and that the imitation is exhausting. In Chapter 8 when you find out about the truth she had been hiding, you also reveal to her your ability to see visions. In Chapter 11, she offers to be your maid-of-honor.

In Chapter 11, you will see a vision of your possible futures with Arthur/Artura or Lancelot. In Arthur/Artura's vision, the two of you share a daughter who is currently visiting Morgana. In the case of Artura, Morgana's magic allowed for you to have a child togetherIn Lancelot's vision, he/she speaks of your close friendship with Morgana.

Arthur/Artura Pendragon

Morgana is Arthur/Artura's half sister through their mother. Many people believe that she is envious of his/her position as ruler of Camelot, while others claim that she is a witch, or that she simply doesn't care about court politics.

Kay

In Chapter 3, Kay says that he never liked Morgana. In Chapter 7, Morgana expresses distrust of Kay's ability to choose decent wines for your upcoming wedding. By the end of the book, however, the two seem to have begun tolerating each other.

Gawain

Gawain and Morgana are cousins, and she really cares about him. In multiple scenes, she calls him her favorite cousin. If you see a vision of the past where he fights the Green Knight, she is worried about him, and gives him a green belt that can potentially help protect him from physical harm.

Lady Brusen

You see Morgana and Lady Brusen talking at the feast, and since Lady Brusen is the one who attempted to poison Arthur/Artura, you suspect that Morgana is involved in the scheme. In Chapter 8, Morgana reveals that she was blackmailing Brusen.

Agravaine

Agravaine is Morgana's cousin and champion at the joust, and it is mentioned that the two are close. If you see Merlin's vision in Chapter 14, Merlin can potentially lie to Agravaine and say that the Lady of the Lake is a danger to Morgana, which helps convince him to trap her. In Chapter 15, when Agravaine attacks you and your allies, Morgana shows up and stops him using magic, and tells you that she will hold him off until you deal with Merlin.

Lancelot du Lac

A premium Chapter 8 scene reveals that Lancelot tried to befriend Morgana when he/she first came to court. After finding out that she had been seeking a rare plant, Lancelot brought it to her. She seemed to see that action as false charity. The same scene also reveals that Lancelot defended her against rumors in the past, for Arthur's/Artura's sake, but her association with known detractors makes it hard for Lancelot to trust her.

Trivia

  • She shares the same name as the poodle Morgana from The Royal Romance.
  • Her character model resembles young Josephine Vance from It Lives Beneath.
  • Her ex-boyfriend, Lord Calhoun, did not really exist in the Arthurian legends. The creation of this character served to explain the birth of her son Mordred, who in the most well-known version of the legends was conceived with her half-brother Arthur before either of them were aware they were related.
