Relationships

Your Character

She is your mother and only living parent, as your father passed away from cancer when you were very young. You two are close, and you can choose to be understanding when her job keeps her away from home for long hours or you can complain that she is never there.

Because she works at Edenbrook Hospital, she was able to get you in as a volunteer, an intern for the Hope Springs Charity Foundation. When you go there a few times a week to work, the usual plan is for her to take you home after her shifts are over. However, on most days, duty calls and you find yourself getting a ride from Dakota Winchester or riding the bus. You become upset with her in Chapter 5 for not telling you that a young girl, Gracie, had died during surgery and the feelings bubble over in Chapter 6 when she catches you breaking curfew because you left the house to teach Dakota to ride a bicycle.

In Chapter 10, when you find out that Dakota's cancer has returned, you have the premium option to be comforted by your mother. If you do, you see her brush off Marlene, telling her to tell Dr. Emery that she will have to wait to talk to her because you take precedence.

Before Dakota's bone marrow transplant begins, you have the premium option to talk to Dakota. Your mother will say that she needs to get something for the transplant, stalling time on purpose so you can see Dakota.

Dakota Winchester

When you are grounded for breaking curfew in Chapter 6, Dakota drops a gift basket at your front door, leaving you stuffed animals, chocolates and snacks, and a letter of apology and flowers for your mom. In Chapter 8, she meets Dakota's parents and they exchange phone numbers, Mr. Winchester promising to text your mother updates while you are all in California.

When the oncologist tells Dakota and his/her family that they need to do a bone marrow transplant, you ask your mom if she can be the doctor who performs the surgery. Even though she is a pediatric surgeon, she agrees to do it for you with the stipulation that it is approved by the oncologist as well as Dakota's parents.

Dr. Ethan Ramsey

If you decide to interview Dr. Ramsey in Chapter 7, he recognizes your last name. When you tell him who your mother is, he acknowledges you and your mother's competence in her field. He is glad that she doesn't waste time on small talk when she is asked for a surgical consult.
