KN Theory Page

Welcome to the Kindred Theory Page. This is a place where you can discuss confirmed, debunked, and unconfirmed theories from the Kindred series.

Confirmed Theories

  • Female Lead: Due to the recent surge in Female Lead stories in early 2023, it is believed that this book will be genderlocked as well. PB confirmed this in the Choices Insiders of February 2023.
  • Biological Sisters: It is theorized that the other two characters mentioned in the blog will be your biological sisters. This is strengthened with a sketch of the cover that features the three girls, and when Chapter 1's title and summary mention sisters. This theory is eventually confirmed with a sneak peek featuring the girls on the cover, stating that they are sisters.
  • Collectibles: There is a theory that this book will feature collectibles. This is confirmed when PB released the blog for this book, hinting at many magical items that you can collect throughout the story, and further when it is revealed that you can collect items for an altar that can help you strengthen your magic.
  • Archer Bell: Given Archer's mysteriousness, players believe that he/she will turn out to be a wraith or a demon. This is confirmed in Chapter 4, where it is revealed that Archer is a wraith, and his/her real name is Kaine.
  • Antagonists: Since wraiths keep attacking you, players suspect that the main antagonists of the book could be the wraiths, and eventually, their leader. This is confirmed with the appearance of the Wraith King, the leader of all wraiths.
  • Matchmaking: Players theorize that you might be able to matchmake Penelope with Saffron, and Brooks with Magnolia. The theory of matchmaking Saffron with Penelope is confirmed through a diamond scene in Chapter 6, and the theory of matchmaking Magnolia with Brooks is confirmed in Chapter 9.
  • Traitor: With the revelation that someone from your group is a traitor, players suspect that Mara is the traitor working for the Wraith King. Albeit being a witch which would debunk this theory, some players suspect that she might have lost her powers somehow, or that she was a wraith all along. It is also believed that Mara could had been the one to kill her coven, and not some wraiths as she claimed. This is confirmed in Chapter 12, where Mara is revealed to be a traitor and the Mistress of Deceit, and where she reveals that Mara never existed.
  • Azalea's Death: Similar to the the Charmed series that the story takes inspiration from, there is a theory that your mother's death wasn't natural, but rather that she was murdered by another person or a creature. This is strengthened with the mention of Azalea being healthy before her death, and with the mention of Azalea's death resulting in breaking a seal that held the Wraith King. This is confirmed in Chapter 13 if you summon her spirit, when Azalea reveals that she turned herself into a Seal and was killed by wraiths.
  • Kaine: There is a theory that you might be able to turn Kaine back to human again, either by using a spell, or by another way. This is strengthened in Chapter 9, when Kaine tells you that spending time with you and your group has changed him/her. This is confirmed in Chapter 16, when you find the book of wraiths' names and Kaine destroys it, turning him/her back into a human.

Debunked Theories

  • Multiple POV: Given that the summary of the story talks about following three individuals on their magical journey, it is theorized that this book will have multiple points of view, and three main characters like Across the Void or A Courtesan of Rome. This is debunked as the only playable character is the main character.
  • Traitor: With the revelation that someone from your group is a traitor, players suspect that either Penelope or Brooks are the ones working for the Wraith King. This is because Kaine mentioned that the traitor is not a witch, and because Penelope's ancestors were cursed by the Morrigan witches. On the other hand, Peter might have only stabbed Brooks so that the latter is not suspected of being a traitor, and that Brooks was a traitor all along, since like Penelope, he isn't a witch either. Both of these are eventually debunked, as Mara is revealed to be the traitor.
  • Kaine's allegiance: Some players believe Mara, being the Mistress of Deceit, is just lying to discredit Kaine, and that he/she is firmly on your side. This is both confirmed and debunked at the same time, as Kaine is now firmly on our side, despite being a spy for the Wraith King when he/she joined our team at first.
  • Kaine's allegiance: Some players believe Mara, being the Mistress of Deceit, is just lying to discredit Kaine, and that he/she is firmly on your side. This is mostly debunked, because while Kaine is now firmly on your side, he/she was a spy for the Wraith King when he/she joined your team at first.
  • Single Love Interest: Given the trend of single love interest stories, this might also be yet another one. This is strengthened when Archer Bell is revealed to be a wraith named Kaine, leading players to believe this makes him/her an antagonist, leaving Guardian as the only love interest. This might gain more traction in Chapter 12, when Mara tells you that Kaine faked his/her defection and is still on the side of the wraiths. However, this is debunked as Kaine remains a love interest until the end.
  • Guardian's Superiors: Given that it is forbidden for Guardian to get involved with witches, it is possible that his/her superiors will order him/her to cut ties with you, or face consequences. Alternatively, since romancing Guardian is optional, perhaps they will be displeased with some of his/her actions, resulting in them becoming antagonists. This is eventually debunked as nothing of the sort happens.
  • Magical necklaces: Due to the fact that all three sisters are wearing glowing necklaces on the cover, there is theory that the gemstones are magical, and that they are the source of the sisters’ powers. This is debunked as no such thing is mentioned throughout the story.
