Kepler, a character in the Across the Void book, is the new security officer on board the Atlas and one of the Main Character's love interests. She is first seen in Chapter 6.

Appearance

She has red eyes, a brown and red undercut, and wears brown suspenders over her white uniform. She wears a brown belt with gray pants. As a member of the Lektra race, she has Lektra tattoos. Her visible tattoos are shown on her chest, both sides of her neck, and on her left eye. She has more tattoos on her shoulder and arms which are hidden under her clothes. Main Character notes that she is muscular and that she has a short frame when they first meet.

Personality

She takes her job seriously and seems eager to inflict pain on other people. She mentions having a "favorite torture knife", implying that she has tortured people in the past. She will also point out that the Atlas could lack secure defense systems, meaning that possibly any thief in the galaxy could rob the passengers.

Relationships

Main Character

She is one of the Main Character's love interests. Because her home planet of Lektra is Jura, it stands to reason that she also allies with the Jura. In fact, she seems pleased if Main Character turns Heze over to the Jura authorities; and she shakes her head at you if you choose to release her to the Vanguard. When the Atlas sets down on Lektra for an emergency repair, Kepler tells you that you're lucky since she's got exclusive access to the Sacred Path of the Goddess, through her mother. She tells you that she can tell you’ll be the best Captain she’s ever had. In Chapter 7, if you decide to get the Mark of the Goddess (the Lektra tattoo), you can enter the temple and spend time with Kepler alone.

Janis

Janis is Kepler's adoptive mother.
