- — Kaine to MC[1]
Kaine (alias: Archer Bell), a character in the Kindred book, is a wraith, an estate lawyer, and one of your love interests. He/She is first seen in Chapter 1.
Appearance
Kaine's appearance is customizable according to the player's preferences. In lawyer outfit, both genders wear a blue coat and blue pants. The female version wears a white blouse and a black belt. The male version wears a white shirt and a blue tie. The coat of the male version also has a pocket. In wraith outfit, both genders wear a black leather jacket and black jeans. The female version wears a white crop top and two silver necklaces. The male version wears a black shirt and two black necklaces. Also with the male version, black sunglasses hang from shirt's opening.
Personality
Posing as lawyer, Kaine is serious and professional. Otherwise, he/she is flirty and carefree, often keeping you guessing whether or not what he/she has just told you is the full truth.
Background
Kaine was once human, although he/she barely remembers life before becoming a wraith. Kaine knows that the Wraith King didn't steal his/her heart, but that he/she offered it to him yet doesn't know why.
In Chapter 16, after you destroy the Wraith King and manage to restore Kaine's humanity, he/she reveals his/her true story: his/her family arrived in California during the Gold Rush, hoping to make a fortune, but they fell on hard times. They were so poor they couldn't afford to feed his/her two little sisters, so he/she sold his/her heart to the Wraith King so that they could thrive.

Archer shows up at the coffee shop you're working at, and tells you that he/she is the executrix of your mother's estate. When you realize that your mother has died, you end up freezing and reversing time. Later, Archer calls Saff about your mother's deposit box, and you go to his/her office to get it. When you apologize for how you met the first time, Archer understands and says that it's as if time stood still, indicating that he/she is probably aware of your powers.
