The Flores' appear to be stern yet kind people. Their daughter Maria is a reflection of their morals; strict, industrious, slightly too serious. This last feat is shown when Stephen takes Your Character's joke about Maria getting a tattoo seriously and lashes out.

Maria is their daughter, whom they love and dote on by organizing a party for her seventeenth birthday. It was revealed in Book 3, Chapter 8, that she was adopted.

Jose and Stephen are friends with Aiden’s parents, whom they promised to watch over Aiden.
