Jimmy Rose, a character in the Crimes of Passion series, is your late father. He is first mentioned in Book 1, Chapter 2, and first appears via flashback in Book 3, Chapter 1.
Personality
Jimmy can be described as just and honorable, as he took many criminals off the streets, and fought the corruption in the system. As a father, he was very caring and supportive.
Background
Jimmy Rose was a NYPD detective who was stabbed at a baseball game and died in front of you when you were 13. In Book 1, Chapter 7, Niko Borodin tells you that Jimmy was killed by the Scarlottis, a Sicilian crime family run by Violet "Big V" Scarlotti. Uncle Tommy and Mafalda confirm it's at least worth investigating. A flashback in Book 3, Chapter 1 shows that Jimmy was meeting a potential informant at the baseball game just prior to his death. His assailant got close to him by pretending to be that informant, then attacked him and left him to bleed out after telling him not to mess with the Scarlottis.
In Book 1, Chapter 11, Tommy tells you about one of your father's most influential cases. The Blackowicz case was a triple homicide involving a husband and two kids, with the wife being charged for the murder. Despite the wife being convicted, Jimmy believed that she was innocent, and six months later the real killer was caught using a DNA match Jimmy found. Afterwards, he spray-painted "Told you so" on his captain's office, and got suspended for two weeks. According to Mafalda in Book 3, Chapter 3, he suspected the captain of corruption and deliberately got himself suspended so he could investigate him more freely.
In Book 3, Chapter 11, Thompson confirms your suspicion that Jimmy had infiltrated the Scarlottis as an undercover mission and had to get "made". According to her, at that point in time the only way to prove your loyalty to the Scarlottis was through murder.

Relationships
Your Character
You had all of Jimmy's attention and love. You are angry that he was taken away from you and devastated that he missed out so much from your life, but you try to remember the good things. When you were a child, he used to tuck you in at night, drive you to soccer games, make you fluffernutter sandwiches, watch Ghostbusters with you, and he helped you build a little fort with lights in the attic. Jimmy is the reason you joined the police force, and back when he was alive, he used to tell you details about his most exciting cases.
Trystan Thorne
You take Trystan to your father's grave in Book 1, Chapter 17, and tell him that Trystan is someone important to you. Trystan tells Jimmy that he did a wonderful job with you, and that he should be proud of you.
Niko Borodin
While it is unknown if Jimmy and Niko knew each other directly, Niko orders Matty to steal your father's gun and badge in Chapter 7 for revenge. When Niko is arrested, he tells you that this isn't over, and that you messed with the wrong people. He also says that this will come back to bite you like it did your father, and mockingly relays that Big V and the Scarlottis have been laughing for years about causing the death of "that pig."
Tommy Greene
Tommy is Jimmy's brother-in-law, having met while working together on the force. According to Tommy's dossier, he and your dad were a great team while working together. Jimmy was able to keep Tommy grounded, as the latter would hyper-fixate on small details. After Jimmy died, there was no one there to be able to keep Tommy from diving deep into cases, thus causing his work to be negatively impacted.
Tommy's sister and Jimmy really hit it off and her death brought the two closer. Per Jimmy's will, Tommy became your legal guardian after his death.

Trivia
- He shares the same name as Jimmy Bae from Hot Couture.
- His character models resemble the versions of Stephen from The Freshman series.
- Like Maria Thompson, Jimmy is said in Book 3 to have worked as a police officer with Albany Station despite earlier books indicating he worked for the NYPD. This is likely due to the overall confusion in Book 3 regarding Albany, rather than a retcon about him working for the police force in a different city.
- Apart from the Blackowicz Case, his other notable cases include;
- Apprehending Jack B. Farwell, a notorious serial killer.
- Tracking down and rescuing 8 year old Noor Rivas after she had gotten stuck on the subway.
- His alleged criminal activity include;
- Running drugs for the Scarlottis.
- Murdering Bobby Ricci, a witness who was set to testify against The Scarlottis.
- In Book 3, Chapter 13, it is revealed that Jimmy never murdered Bobby. He instead helped him fake his death and got him into the Witness Protection program under the alias "Jesse Wrangler".
