Zaid Mirani

"I always knew you needed a big brain to be a good doctor. Ines is the one who taught me that, to be a great doctor, you have to have a big heart."
—Zaid's toast to Ines on her wedding

When you and your friends are first year interns at Edenbrook, Zaid and Ines are the residents assigned to you. Although you rarely see them outside of work, when you do, you notice that Ines is the type to bring Zaid out of his shell or try to make him more personable or relatable. She tells you that he is worried about you when you have the upcoming Ethics Committee meeting during your first year, although he will not admit it to you himself.

At her wedding, he tells the story of how he met Ines during their first year at Edenbrook. He didn't expect to meet the kindest, sweetest, most amazing doctor he has ever known and to make the best friend he has ever had. She asked him to officiate her wedding, and he accepted.

Angie McKinnon

Angie is Ines's wife. They met when Ines's regular accountant was sick and Angie took over one of her appointments. Her passionate arguments about taxes as well as being cute convinced Ines to ask her out for coffee. The two have been together for 15 months and considering how difficult it is to predict life in Edenbrook, as soon as they saw an opportunity to get married they didn't decide to wait. At their wedding reception, if you mention to Ines that you thought she might have dated a co-worker at the hospital, she tells you that she knows better than to mix her personal life with her professional life.
