It succeeds its first two books, High School Story: Class Act, Book 1 and High School Story: Class Act, Book 2. It is also the sixth and final book in the entire High School Story series that started on September 7, 2017.

• On June 7, 2019, in their monthly newsletter, Choices Insiders, PB announced that the book is currently being worked on.

Trivia

• Unlike the previous two books in the Class Act series, this book will be released on Wednesdays (the first two were released on Mondays).
• America's Most Eligible TV show and Ivy Fisher are mentioned in Skye's premium scene in Chapter 1. You also watch a movie called "We" which is a parody of the movie "Us" given that both movies revolve around people being attacked by scissor wielding doppelgängers.
• The spring play being cast is a musical version of The Tempest by William Shakespeare. The Tempest is one of Shakespeare's late romances, and is subject to many interpretations. The cast and crew list is as follows:

  • Further references in the same scene include The Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables.
  • The song Faith sung for the music box is "Of Thee I Sing" from the musical of the same name, the first musical to win the Pulitzer prize for Drama.
• In total, this franchise lasted two and a half years, while The Freshman franchise lasted two years and four months.
