Hana, a character in The Royal Romance and The Royal Heir series, is one of the suitors to Prince "Liam" and also a potential love interest for your character. She is first seen in The Royal Romance, Book 1, Chapter 1.
Appearance
Hana has long brown hair, dark brown eyes, and tanned skin. Usually, she wears a pink dress.
Personality
- "Well-behaved. Classically trained. Perfect at every skill that my mother said would one day win me love. Funny, but I don't think I ever realized then that it was *her* love I was actually trying to win. And now... I can't turn it off. I still feel like I need to be the perfect lady in every situation."
- —Hana about herself (TRH1 Ch.9)
Hana is a kind-hearted girl and has a great personality, although she is often shy, timid and has low self-esteem. As she matures and discovers her own interests outside of her family's, she becomes more confident and her own person. She also can be very competitive.
StoryLoom Description
"Elegance and grace personified, the epitome of poise under pressure. Born into high society and often made to adhere to its strict demands, Hana has always met those high-stakes expectations with perfection. Underneath the well-curated facade, she longs for the courage to express herself, to find genuine loving relationships that extend beyond mere titles."[1]
History
Because her parents didn't have any sons, they pinned all their hopes on her. As a child, Hana was pushed into doing many things by her family. She says that although she didn't enjoy most of them, playing piano became a passion of hers. However, her parents also pushed her to perform for large crowds and one time, she was furious enough to intentionally botch a performance at a ball. Despite their harsh expectations and the rigorous preparation they put her through, Hana's parents also care for her safety and wellbeing. Hana reveals that once during a dressage competition, she broke her arm after falling from her horse and was consequently rushed to hospital. There her parents remained in her company and treated her with ice cream, rather than scolding her for losing the competition. She was also not allowed to have toys or pets when she was a child, a tea-set being the only exception as it would train her to be a proper hostess. Because of this, she imagined friends such as Miss Napkin, Miss Doily, Princess Snickerdoodle, Prince Snickerdoodle (who was caught dancing with Miss Lemon Curd at the Bakery Ball), and Mr. Sock. She also had sleepovers with Miss Broomstick and Lady Pillowcase.
Her training also included modeling lessons, and she subsequently modeled in three or four shows prior to her walk in Lancelin St. Claire's Paris show. However, modeling stopped when her parents read somewhere that most men felt models were unattainable.
She was previously engaged to an English nobleman, named Peter. She had accepted his proposal because she felt she needed to. He was also her first kiss. For their engagement photo shoot, he missed her lips, kissed her ear instead and punctured his lip on her earring[2]. When he realized she didn't love him, he ended their engagement. Although it was handled quietly, it became a scandal for her because he married someone else shortly after. It is one of the reasons her parents threw her into the Cordonian competition so aggressively. When visiting Paris, Hana tells you about how she used to read some of her favorite books there and how she left messages in the pages of books for the next reader.

Relationships
Your Character
You first meet Hana in Chapter 2 at the boutique where you are looking for a dress for the Masquerade Ball. You walk in and accidentally see Hana in her underwear. Depending on your reaction, you can gain relationship or romance points with her. During Book 1, you two become friends although the extent of your friendship is dependent on your choices. She helps you navigate through courtly decorum and procedures, admitting to you in Chapter 7's premium scene that her parents suggested getting close to you as a way to help her get close to Liam and become part of his inner circle. Regardless of their feelings, she tells you that she enjoys spending time with you and later becomes downhearted at the prospect of you marrying Liam and her being labeled a failure again by her parents. In Chapter 14, you encourage her to stand up to her parents but the consequences of her defying their wishes catch up to her in Chapter 17 when her parents send a messenger to the Coronation ball to let her know that she will be leaving Cordonia afterward.
In Book 2, Hana surprises you with her arrival at Madeleine's estate. She explains that at Liam's insistence, Madeleine invited Hana to become a part of her court, which Hana accepted. During Book 2, you can continue romancing Hana while she helps you investigate the conspiracy against you. If you reject Liam's proposal and declare your love for Hana, she will propose to you on the night before the Homecoming Ball. In Chapter 18, you can choose to become intimate with her for the first time even if you are engaged to someone else.
In Book 3, Chapter 1, if you chose Hana, she will give you a ring and you will announce to the rest of the group that you are getting married, an event the Cordonian people can get behind. If you chose a different fiance, you will have the opportunity to become intimate with her (again) at your bachelorette party in Las Vegas.
If your character didn't get engaged to her, you can choose her to be your maid of honor in Book 3, Chapter 17.
In The Royal Heir, Book 1 Chapter 9's premium scene, Hana tells Isabella (and Olivia if she was invited) that she has always been envious of you and your confidence.
Olivia Nevrakis
Olivia bullies Hana often. But after You help her overcoming her low self-esteem, she can finally talk back in Chapter 18 of Book 1. As the story goes, their relationship has improved to be much better.
Xinghai Lee
Xinghai is Hana's father. In Book 1, Hana mentions them when she talks about her training, but it is evident that she feels conflicted by doing what they request. While she loves them dearly and cannot imagine leaving them, she also finds the pressure from her parents almost unbearable to the point that she feels fear when she is in Cordonia. Hana stands up to her father in Chapter 13 of Book 2 which throws off their relationship. She is unsure of how things will work out with her parents and Your Character (especially if Your Character pursues a romantic relationship).
Lorelai Lee
Lorelai is Hana's mother. It is implied that they do not have a good relationship, due to Lorelai's expectations for Hana and Hana feeling pressured to live up to those expectations. In "The Royal Finale", Sigrid reveals that Lorelai was once a member of the Via Imperii. When Hana questions her mother about this, Lorelai tells her that she thought the Via Imperii was an elite society that she wanted to be a part of. However, when she learned about the Vox Nostra Academy curriculum and that the society was more dangerous than she previously believed, she quit the Via Imperii. In Chapter 15, Lorelai helps cover for Hana and her friends during the Applewood school tour by telling Sergio that Maxwell's earpiece was her own bluetooth device. In Chapter 16, if you and your friends decide to interrogate Sigrid, Hana tells Sigrid that despite their estranged relationship, Lorelai was "infinitely a better mom" than Sigrid would ever be.
Madeleine
During King "Liam" and Madeleine's engagement, Madeleine makes her a part of her court (either partially or in whole as a favor to Liam). Madeleine tries to break her because Madeleine thinks her nice personality is fake, thus Madeleine wants to prove it by faking her chocolate allergy when she intends to host a chocolate fondue party as a gift for Madeleine's bachelorette party in Chapter 7, Book 2 . Toward the last half of Book 3, Madeleine starts to feel guilty over her past mistake to her and if she is not your LI, Madeleine appears to be interested in her. In Chapter 16, with liquid courage, Madeleine asks her to dance with her at the club in Las Vegas. In Chapter 22, Madeleine remorsefully apologizes and although she knows that she has a long way to go to make amends, Madeleine tells her that she can make anyone who gives her trouble at court regret it.
Kiara
In The Royal Romance, Book 1, Hana becomes friends with Kiara and Penelope, the three becoming closer when they fall out of the running in the competition to become "Liam"'s fiancee. In Book 3, if you proclaim your love for Hana and choose her as your fiancee, she chooses Kiara as her maid of honor. In The Royal Finale, Chapter 15, if you decide to have a compliment circle in the conservatory, Kiara tells Hana that her hot chocolate is extraordinary and divine.
