Guinevere theory page image

Welcome to the Guinevere Theory Page. This is a place where you can discuss confirmed, debunked, and unconfirmed theories from the Guinevere series.

Confirmed Theories

  • Setting: Due to the title, many players believe this series will take place in a reimagining of the Arthurian legend in and around Camelot. This was confirmed in the May Choices Insiders, which stated that "Guinevere features a female main character swept up in the Arthurian legend".
  • Mentioned in the blog: This is believed by some to be the untitled Knights book mentioned in the New Year blogpost. This is confirmed when one of the keywords for the book is "knight".
  • Love Interests: It is theorized that love interests might be gender customizable variations of Arthur and Lancelot. This theory is backed up through a Choices Insiders that mentions that there would be customizable love interests, and eventually confirmed by PB through their social media, stating that the love interests will be Arthur and Lancelot, and that they will both be gender customizable.[1]
  • Playing as Guinevere: Given that this is a genderlocked female story, players suspect that you will most likely be playing as the titular character, making this book one of the few books where you have a set name, along with The Crown & The Flame and Most Wanted. The theory of playing as Guinevere is confirmed by PB through a sneak peek that features the main character, but you can rename her as you wish.
  • Love Triangle: Similar to Immortal Desires, Book 1 and the Arthurian legend, it is very possible that there will be a love triangle between you and the two love interests. This is strengthened with the release of the trailer for the book and from Chapter 1, and eventually confirmed with Chapter 9, where Lancelot seems to have feelings for you regardless of your choices.
  • Merlin: There is a theory that suggests that Merlin is the shadowed figure in your vision in Chapter 8, and by extension, the Big Bad of the story. The reason players suspect Merlin, is because he has been very absent from the story so far, because he is a very strong-magic user, and because of the comet that coincides with Merlin's return to Camelot. In addition, since Morgana is confirmed to be an ally, this has led players to believe she and Merlin have their roles swapped in this adaptation. This is confirmed in Chapter 14.
  • Main Character's Vision: Due to a vision of Camelot in flames in Chapter 1, you suspect that Lancelot or Arthur/Artura is responsible for its destruction, and that the two will eventually betray each other. However, players believe that this is a trick, and that the perpetrator is someone else. This theory is strengthened with the appearance of a shadowed figure in your vision in Chapter 8 who is most likely the Big Bad, and eventually confirmed after the revelation that Merlin is behind everything, who tried to manipulate Arthur/Artura into killing you and Lancelot.
  • Visions: Given that you were able to change one of your visions of the future and save Arthur/Artura from being poisoned in Chapter 3, there is a theory that eventually you will also be able to change the vision regarding the destruction of Camelot and the fight between Arthur/Artura and Lancelot. Since you tell Lancelot and Arthur/Artura the truth about your visions at the end of Chapter 3, there is a high probability that they could help with changing the future. This is confirmed in Chapter 15.
  • Merlin's fate: Similar to other antagonists in other books, it is theorized that you will have the chance to decide Merlin's fate. This is confirmed in Chapter 16, where you can either destroy the crystal he's imprisoned in and kill him, or leave him alive and imprisoned.
  • Main Character's future: Similar to the vision you saw about your different futures in Chapter 11, it is believed that you will marry Arthur/Artura or Lancelot by the end of the story. This is confirmed in Chapter 17.

Debunked Theories

  • 17+: It is theorized that due to the setting of the story, it will be a Mature-tagged book. This is debunked when the mature tag did not appear.
  • Time-Travel: Based on the description of the book in the Insiders and based on the summary of the first two chapters, some players theorize that you will be a time-traveller from the present, similar to Distant Shores. This is debunked when PB released the trailer for the Book, which indicated that you are Princess Guinevere herself, who simply happens to have visions of the future.
  • General release: Given that the wide release for most books occurs two months after the VIP release, some players theorize that the book will be released for everyone in December. The October 2022 Choices Insiders newsletter debunked this when it is revealed the book will be released for everyone next year.
  • Morgana will be a villain: Given that many adaptations of the Arthurian legend have Morgana be a villain, many players expect this to be the same for this adaptation. This is debunked when Morgana's backstory is revealed in Chapter 8, and when she tries to make amends by helping you figure out more about your visions.
  • Sequel: Given the story's potential on the expansion of the Arthurian legend, players believe that the book will get a sequel, and that one possible Big Bad could be Mordred, since he is seen killing Arthur/Artura in a vision. This is debunked however, as PB announced that Chapter 17 is the series finale.
