Trivia

• The book's title comes from the Hollywood blockbuster Guarded that Your Character is filming - which is an adaptation of a book of the same name.
• This book shares plot similarities with both Red Carpet Diaries, Book 3 and the 1992 film The Bodyguard, starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner.
  • All three female protagonists (Guarded MC, Red Carpet Diaries MC, and Rachel Marron) are actresses who are confronted with having a stalker during filming and all three of them get a bodyguard as a result.
  • Both Guarded MC and Rachel Marron get a bodyguard they develop feelings for. Guard used to be in the Special Forces and Frank Farmer used to be in the Secret Service. In both cases, a central person behind the threat is later revealed to be female. In both cases, a second character also causes a threat.
  • Both Guarded MC and Red Carpet Diaries MC starr in an adaptation of a book series they are fans of. Both their stalkers criticize changes made to the plot and characters during the adaptation. Both MCs narrowly escape lights falling down on them.
• The symbol for Veneer points matches that of the Deception skill from Blades of Light and Shadow, Book 1.
• Chapter 8 shares the same title as The Nanny Affair, Book 1, Chapter 12, "The Gala".
• Chapter 14 shares the same title as The Nanny Affair, Book 1, Chapter 19, "The Breakup".
