Garrote, a character in the Wake the Dead book, is a member of the Raiders. He is first seen in Chapter 12.
Appearance
Garrote has short black hair with a fade hairstyle, brown eyes, tanned skin, and a small beard. He has two scars on his left cheek, one on his nose, and several dirt stains on his face and body. He wears a ripped khaki tank top with several straps and a hoodie, and he has a tattoo on his left arm consisting of four black lines.
Personality
Garrote considers what the Raiders are doing “liberating” or “seizing”, depending on if the owners are assholes or not.
Background
Sledge was already the leader of the Raiders when Garrote joined the Raiders. Before becoming one of them he was a lonely scavenger, and once he got tired of it, he asked to join the Raiders.

You meet Garrote for the first time in Chapter 12, and he says that if you want to be allies with them, you have to prove you are worth their time. He also believes that Sledge shouldn’t bother with you since you’re not one of them, but Sledge says that neither he was. When you beat the Soldier zombie, Garrote says that he haven’t seen a trial that good in years.
Knuckles
Knuckles is Garrote’s boyfriend. In Chapter 20, you mention that the two are polyamorous and have a girlfriend as well.
Trivia
- His character model resembles Kyle Garza from It Lives Beneath.
- Chapter 20 reveals that Garrote and Knuckles are in a polyamorous relationship with an unnamed woman. Although there's some indication that this may be Minna Arbogast, her identity is never confirmed.
- He and Knuckles are the first polyamorous characters in the game.
