Your Character in High School Story is the main protagonist of the High School Story series from Book 1 to Book 3.
Although his/her default name is "Jordan Lee", the player can choose to name him/her as they wish. The player can also choose the gender of the character.
Appearance
Your appearance is customizable according to the player's preferences. You can choose gender, skintone, and hairstyle. You have a closet available to change your wardrobe.
If you play any Class Act book without importing from the previous book, his/her gender would be the same as Class Act's main character. He/She would have the tan skintone and the brown hair of respective gender.
Personality
You are originally show to be very shy since you are a new student at Oliver M. Berry High, but you will quickly become the nucleus of a close group of friends including Emma, Caleb, Michael, Aiden and Maria.
You will eventually have the choice to join the Sports Team, Cheerleading Squad, or Band. You won't face any restrictions on your activities based on gender, and you can switch activities in Books 2 and 3.

Emma Hawkins
Emma is the first friend you make at Oliver M. Berry High and one of your love interests. She is in the same homeroom as you. You have the choice to romance her and pursue a relationship in Book 2, Chapter 15, or help Nishan and Myra have her play with Luis on an online game.
Caleb Mitchell
Caleb is a football player and one of your love interests. He is in the same homeroom as you. In Book 1, you and Caleb find out that Zoe cheated on him with Brian, and you help him recover. Even though throughout Book 1 you are able to flirt with him, he tells you that he is still trying to recover. You have the choice to romance him and pursue a relationship in Book 2, Chapter 15 or help him trying to impress Jade.
Michael Harrison
Michael is a slacker and one of your love interests. He is in the same homeroom as you. In Book 1, after Brian transfers to Hearst, you ask him to try out for the quarterback position for the football team, but he refuses twice. However he eventually accepts your offer after the Ollie the Tiger statue is vandalized, sharing with you how important Oliver M. Berry High School is to him. In Book 2, you get suspicious over the closeness between him and Maria, thinking they might be in a relationship, only to reveal that they are helping each other investigate Principal Isa. You can romance him and be in a relationship with him in Book 2, Chapter 15 or not. In Book 3, Chapter 8, Michael gives to you a Clover Keychain for good luck if you are dating him.
Aiden Zhou
Aiden is part of the school marching band and one of your love interests. After the failed Halftime show in a football game against Statton High, he loses his inspiration, and you help him get his inspiration back. In Book 2, you feel guilty that Aiden got suspended due to breaking Luis's arm, and that you take it seriously what both his parents tell you that you are a bad influence for him. He denies that you are and that you are "one of the best things" that happened to him. You can choose to romance him and be in a relationship with him in Book 2, Chapter 15 or help him ask Cameron to go to prom with him.
Maria Flores
Maria is in charge of the homecoming committee and one of your love interests. After involving yourself in a fistfight between Caleb and Brian, the three of you are forced to help with Homecoming, but Brian refuses to join. However, after losing a football game against Statton, you help her rebuild school spirit. In Book 2, you become suspicious towards the closeness between her and Michael, thinking they might be in a relationship, only to find out they are working with each other to investigate Principal Isa. You have the choice to romance her and be in a relationship in Book 2, Chapter 15 or not.
Scott
Scott is your dad. Even though he embarrasses you with his antics, you still have a strong and loving relationship.
Brian Crandall
You can initially be flirty towards Brian, and he can invite you to his party in Book 1, Chapter 1. However, you develop an extremely negative relationship after you walk in on him and Zoe making out at said party. He takes every opportunity to bully and harass you in Book 1. After it is discovered that Zoe was manipulating him and attempted to get back with Caleb, the player can choose whether or not they feel sorry for him, as well as persuade Caleb whether to forgive him or not. When he returns to Berry High in Book 3, Chapter 2, he still continues to bully you, starting on his tour with the other former Hearst High students. It is shown that he blames you for Berry High turning against him. He claims that you acting nice towards the Hearst students is an act and that everyone knows you hate him. In Chapter 4, you get mad when Brian harasses some girls.
Julian Castillo
You and Julian have an easygoing friendship in Book 1 but can be closer if you choose to play football alongside him. In Book 2, if you choose to do basketball, the friendship grows stronger. In Chapter 14, you and Julian can kiss in a game of spin the bottle. Both of you remark how neither is such a bad kisser.
Jade Ali / Cameron Levy / Kieran Hale
You and Jade/Cameron/Kieran initially have a good relationship, but after you are wrongly accused of sabotaging the tryouts, they become angry at you. After proving your innocence, they apologise to you. Who gets angry with you depends on whether you are doing baseball, band or cheer.
Your Character (HSS:CA)
You meet Your Character (High School Story: Class Act) during auditions for "The Enchanted Kingdom" at the beginning of your junior year. Although you are injured and cannot perform in the play, you still visit the theater department and watch rehearsals, giving your support. When Your Character (HSS:CA) is accused of sabotaging your audition, you stick up for him/her and voice your opinion. You don't believe Your Character (HSS:CA) is capable of such a malicious act, and invite him/her to your house to meet your friends. Later, when the air is cleared, you are in the audience to watch Your Character (HSS:CA) perform and gush over the cast.
In the spring of your junior year, you and your friends audition for "The Tempest: The Musical" and hang out with Your Character (HSS:CA) and the rest of the cast. No matter your gender, you land the part of Prospero, Your Character (HSS:CA)'s character's father. From this point, you joke about being Your Character (HSS:CA)'s father even when the play is over.
School Spirit
Throughout all three stories of High School Story, you have the ability to raise School Spirit, exemplified by showing confidence and doing certain tasks correctly. If you reach a certain threshold, there is a reward given at the end of each book.
- Accruing enough School Spirit in Book 1 grants the player the title of Homecoming King/Queen.
- Accruing enough School Spirit in Book 2 grants the player the title of Payton's Guest of Honor.
- Accruing enough School Spirit in Book 3 grants the player the title of Prom King/Queen.

- Your Character is shown on the covers of High School Story, Book 1 and High School Story, Book 3.
- This is one of the forty eight main characters in the game whose full name (first and last name) is customizable.
- The default name Jordan is of Hebrew origin and means "to flow down" or "descend".
- If the default name is kept, he/she will share the same name as Jordan Le from The Nanny Affair, Book 2 and Jordan from Getaway Girls.
- The default surname Lee is of English, Korean and Chinese origin, which means: Clearing, meadows (English); plum tree (Korean); reason, logic, stand, stablish, black, dawn, power, capability, influence, beautiful (Chinese).
- Your Character shares the same default surname as the MC from America's Most Eligible. If it is kept, he/she will also share the same surname as Hana, Lorelai, and Xinghai Lee.
- The default alias while wearing a janitor outfit is the same default forname for Open Heart's MC and for the twin of Class Act's MC.
- In a premium option in Book 1, Chapter 5, you will mention your parents' divorce.

- Your Character is the only student Isa feels threatened by as she wants to have you expelled.
- It is implied that Your Character is a fan of The Crown & The Flame as you have a poster of it above your bed.
- If the player makes their MC male, one of the outfit choices has a white tee with a formal jacket over it. The tee appears to contain the default names of all the customizable MCs of the books that were released before High School Story. The names are as follows: Emily (MC of The Freshman series), Katie (MC of the Rules of Engagement series), Taylor (MC of the Endless Summer series), Dani (MC of the LoveHacks series), Hannah (MC of The Haunting of Braidwood Manor), Riley (MC of The Royal Romance series) and Alex (MC of the Hero series).
- Similar to Everett Rourke in the Endless Summer series, Principal Isa sees you as the biggest threat among all other students.
- Your Character's address is 19928 Rosy Bluffs Street. This is revealed if Your Character (High School Story: Class Act) accepts your invitation to go to your house party in Chapter 12 of Class Act, Book 1 (premium choice).
- On February 11, 2019, it was revealed that a glitch involving MC was being experienced by players during Chapter 1 of High School Story: Class Act, Book 2. PB revealed they were aware of it and were trying to get fixed ASAP. [1]
- If original trilogy settings are not imported into Class Act, each of the following would occur::
- His/Her gender would be same as Class Act's main character; skin would be tan, and hair would be brown.
- He/She would have the default name (Jordan Lee).
- He/She would be single and Emma Hawkins would be in the scenes that would feature the love interest.
