Background
Fake Partner was born in London and moved to Oxford when his/her sociology-professor father landed a position at Oxford University. He/She chose to attend Yale instead, and stayed in the States on a company-sponsored work visa after getting a prestigious finance job at a well-known firm called Hammond Righ. He/She has just quit that job in favor of nonprofit work, which has left him/her scrambling to find a way to stay in the country. It also caused his/her now-ex to end their relationship, revealing it was based on finances all along, and he/she is not interested in dating again so soon after that heartbreak.
