Duke, a character in the Big Sky Country series, is the eldest son of Cliff Oakley, Sawyer's older brother and the father of Brooklynne. He is first seen in Book 1, Chapter 1.

Appearance

Duke has short brown hair with a receding hairline and brown eyes. He usually wears a light blue western shirt with embroidery. In Chapter 1, he is described to be husky.

Personality

As the older brother, who also became a teenaged parent when he was still in high school, Duke had to "grow up real quick." He thinks of himself as a realist, not an idealist, and because he wanted a better life for his daughter, he left the ranch after high school.

Relationships

Sawyer Oakley

Duke has a strained relationship with his younger brother Sawyer. Duke travels a lot for work and hardly spends time on the ranch. Sawyer blames him for that while Duke considers his younger brother's hobby of riding in a rodeo "irresponsible, life-threatening". At the end of Book 1, Chapter 3, they have a heated argument that results in them getting into a fistfight.

Brooklynne Shao-Oakley

Brooklynne is Duke's daughter who spends most of the time with her mother because Duke is constantly traveling for his work. She spends the summer with him. In a premium scene in Book 1, Chapter 4, Duke tells Your Character that Brooklynne was born when Duke was eighteen and that he and her mother were still in high school.
