Relationships

Dr. Ethan Ramsey

Declan is an old acquaintance of Ethan's and they don't get along because Ethan punched Declan in the face and humiliated him in public in the past. However, because Declan's company is currently developing experimental sepsis treatments, Ethan attends the medical conference in Miami with the hopes of getting information. When you try and fail to obtain the information, Ethan decides to take a gamble and challenges Declan to a game of poker. Ethan lets Declan win because the former doesn't believe the latter would keep his word, appealing to Declan's ego instead and giving him the satisfaction of triumph over the doctor. Declan also gives Ethan information about this experimental treatment as a kind gesture. Because Ethan lost the bet, Declan comes to Edenbrook in Chapter 12 to sign a contract with the diagnostics team.

Dr. Harper Emery

In Chapter 12, you overhear Declan muttering about his interest in Dr. Harper Emery, who refers to him as a scumbag under her breath. In Chapter 17, when he protests your reinstatement to the hospital, she tells him that he shouldn't fight it or she will bring an inquiry to the Board about why his company is hiding a possible cure to Rhodes disease.

Your Character

When he finds out that you stole a sample of an experimental drug from him, he wants your head on a platter. He wants you to lose your job and your medical license. At the end of Chapter 16, he smirks at you, believing that no matter what you do, he still has the upper hand. After all, he is friends with different members of the Ethics Committee. In Chapter 17, at the end of your hearing, you have the option to punch him.

In Book 2, you are annoyed to find him still at Edenbrook. Due to his agreement with Dr. Ramsey earlier, he has managed to integrate himself into the hospital and tells the doctors that he is personally overseeing the clinical trials taking place there. He woos the interns with gifts.
