On the first day of your residency, you meet Danny during the crisis in the waiting room. He passes Dr. Ramsey a bag mask when the attending calls a Code Blue, and when the crisis is averted, he takes you to the locker rooms to change out of your bloody scrubs. While Sarah openly admits to being "in love" with Dr. Ramsey, he tells you that you will have plenty of opportunities to impress Dr. Ramsey. In Chapter 12, he is the only nurse who doesn't believe the rumors about you, but he cannot side with you because of how his coworkers would treat him. He reassures you that it should blow over soon.
In Chapter 14, he tells you that the investigators have no proof, that there is no video surveillance of what happened. Like your other friends, he advises you to keep your head down.

Dr. Sienna Trinh

In Chapter 6, at your housewarming party, Sienna and Danny bond over The Secret of Ninradell. The next morning, you find them fallen asleep on the couch. In Chapter 7, when your friends are trying to help you figure out who Patient X is, she mentions asking Danny about the hospital patients and not finding any information that would help. Your friends tease her about being on a first name basis with Danny. In Chapter 12, he arranges with his cousin, Kima, a trip to the animal shelter to cheer up Sienna. When Danny dies in Book 2, Chapter 11, she becomes devastated and angry that his killer "died without suffering the consequences of what he did" and Ed Farrugia was going to be president because of it.

The name Danny is of Hebrew origin and means "God is my judge". Danny is the short version of the name Daniel.
In With Every Heartbeat, Chapter 15, Mateo calls Danny by name, confirming this "nurse" in the book is the same nurse as in the Open Heart series.
