Dad and Mom, characters from the Rising Tides book, are the parents of Your Character and Charlie. They are first seen in Rising Tides, Chapter 1.
Appearances
Both Dad's and Mom's appearances are determined by the character model chosen for Your Character. Dad wears a brown polo shirt. Mom wears a light mint green shirt with blue embroidery along the neckline.
Personality
- "Sometimes it's the world that's wrong, even when we're right. And there's not much we can do about it."
- —Mom
Of the two of them, Mom appears more hot-headed or easier to anger. She does not like the injustice or the bullying her daughters face throughout their stands on the environment. She also has a "BS" meter a mile wide and knows when her daughters are lying to her. Both parents, however, are realists. They understand the reality of what they can do and what power Monteverde has. Mom wants a lot of terrible things to change, but she does not want it to be done at the expense of her daughters.

Relationships
With Each Other
By Chapter 10, Dad tells you that they have blown through their savings and can't afford to pay for the repairs to their vandalized property. When they realize how much Monteverde has done to their family, they are angry but still don't want you or Charlie to endanger yourselves. They want you two to be safe. Your father, however, had to talk your mom out of leaving a bunch of dead fish on Monteverde's doorstep.
Your Character
Although Dad and Mom support both support you and Charlie, they feel that Charlie needs to prioritize her education first before she tries to voice her stance on climate change and how to help the environment and save the earth. They also look to you to watch over your sister.
You don't understand why they don't want you nor Charlie to fight, especially since they taught you how to fight for what you believe in, until Monteverde vandalizes your home and you realize the weight of their actions. In Chapter 11, they tell you that no matter what happens at your protest, they are proud of you for standing up for what's right.
Charlie
Mom usually deals with the business end of the family business and is the parent that Principal Strickler calls to report Charlie's behavior.
Townspeople
Most of the townspeople (including Richard Strickler, Stan, and Beth) appear to be around your parents' age and have known each other since their youths. Dad brings up the Reagan protest era (Ronald Reagan was president between 1981 to 1989) and if you decide to wear your mom's old clothes in the protest, they recognize it from a protest against nuclear warfare in the 1980s.
