Best Friend, a character in the My Two First Loves book, is Main Character's best friend since freshman year at Eastridge High and one of your love interests. Her default name is "Ava", but the player can pick a name for her. She is first seen in Chapter 2.
Appearance
Best Friend's look is determined by the player. Regardless of the choice however, she wears golden earrings, a black long-sleeved blouse, and a red skirt with black and white stripes. For cheer, she wears a yellow, red, and white crop top and a red skirt.
Personality
She is described as being an 'intense' person, something that your character says makes sense for the captain of the cheer squad. She is popular, in-tuned to school gossip, and has the reputation of being a boy-crazy girl with a mean streak. In the beginning, she had a preconceived notion about how love was supposed to be: hard and unfulfilling. So when she dated her past boyfriends and felt that way, she did not think anything was wrong with her relationships. As a freshman, she daydreamed about finding the perfect boyfriend, going to the same college as him, and living happily ever after. However as a senior, she feels lost. She would like a fresh start where her reputation would not precede her, and where she could find someone who is as crazy about her as she is about that person.

Relationships
Main Character
Main Character and Best Friend are best friends since freshman year. However, Main Character didn't tell her about her feelings toward Childhood Crush. In Chapter 2, Best Friend confesses that she is dating him. Although Main Character feels hurt at that moment, she still congratulates them. After Childhood Crush is tackled on the football field, she notices how close Main Character and Childhood Crush are while tending to him. While Main Character expects a direct confrontation, Best Friend takes a different approach and suggests Main Character get a boyfriend herself.
In Chapter 16, he texts Main Character that Best Friend snapped at him for distracting her from her party preparations. If Main Character texts back that he should leave her be, Main Character reveals that she once almost broke her arm in a similar situation.
In Chapter 17, when Main Character arrives at her party, Best Friend is already drunk. The latter greets the former by sloppily hugging her, laying her head on her shoulder, and saying that Main Character is her favorite person and that she loves her. Depending on choices, she will tell Main Character how she doesn't understand why Main Character is still single; if she were a guy, she would be all over Main Character. In Chapter 18, she confronts Main Character and Childhood Crush after the accidental kiss between them, and tells her that she is done with Main Character. Despite that, she promotes Main Character to co-captain in Chapter 21.
When Main Character is grounded by her father for being arrested, he tells her that she cannot perform at the Homecoming game nor go to the dance. Because of this, Best Friend gives Lauren the position as "Crown Jewel" in the cheer squad's performance. When Main Character apologizes again for the accidental kiss and Childhood Crush's subsequent break-up with her, she tells Main Character that she isn't broken up about Childhood Crush. She is broken up about Main Character going behind her back. She says it will take time for their friendship to mend.
When Main Character is un-grounded and Lauren messes up the routine, she is given the position as Crown Jewel and executes it flawlessly. It leaves Main Character unsatisfied, so she quits the cheer squad right there and then, giving up her status as co-captain. In Chapter 38, when the dance comes to a close due to a fight between Childhood Crush and Bad Boy, Best Friend drives Main Character home and confesses that she has been lying to herself for a long time about what she wanted and who she was. Main Character remembers the time when she felt exhilarated that the coolest and prettiest girl wanted to be her friend and the afternoons they joked about ditching boys and dating each other instead. Main Character is confused by her admission and Main Character's sudden feelings and need time to think about everything. She understands and tells Main Character that she can call her later if she wants to talk about anything.
In Chapter 51, Best Friend admits to Bayla that she realized she is in love with Main Character. In hindsight, it was apparent from all the times she spent with Main Character but she didn't figure it out until the party where Main Character and Childhood Crush kissed. At the end of Chapter 77, Main Character and Best Friend had their first kiss at Best Friend's New year eve's party.
Childhood Crush
She and Childhood Crush started dating during the summer break. She had started flirting with him shortly before school let out and he wanted Main Character's opinion if he should start dating her, but Main Character was upset with him for moving and he didn't have a chance to ask her before her family left for Wyoming. In Chapter 9, Childhood Crush confesses when they are in public, she will throw herself all over him, but when they are alone, she is not in the mood to make out, which makes him ask Main Character about her inconsistency. Main Character can encourage Childhood Crush to talk to Best Friend about it or Main Character surmises Best Friend is not actually into him.
In Chapter 16, he texts Main Character that she snapped at him for distracting her from her party preparations when he tried to kiss her. In Chapter 18, after a video of Main Character and Childhood Crush accidentally kissing goes viral, she confronts them both. She admits that she hasn't trusted him from the beginning, expecting something like this. He tells her that if an accident during a game is enough for her to fly off the handle, they should call it quits; if she never trusted him, they would have never worked at all. In Chapter 22, he reveals that he has ended his relationship with Best Friend to be with Main Character.
In Chapter 51, if she thinks about the night that Main Character and her ex-boyfriend kissed, she realizes that she was with him because he was safe and that she felt he would comfort her and protect her, even though she knew she wasn't in love with him. She says it took her a long time to realize she didn't like him that way, but just liked the social status that came with dating him and Chad.
Lauren
In Chapter 4, Best Friend tells Main Character that she and Lauren spent some time together during the summer break. According to Iris, Lauren thrives to become her new best friend, the position currently occupied by Main Character. In Chapter 18, Lauren was the one who filmed the accidental kiss that went viral within a matter of moments and was the one who showed Best Friend the video to cause strain between the two of them[1].
In Chapter 21, Best Friend names Main Character co-captain, causing Lauren to feel jealous and slighted. After Lauren drops Main Character during the human pyramid, Best Friend is very angry with her. When Main Character is grounded from participating in the Homecoming performance, Best Friend gives the position as "Crown Jewel" to Lauren. However, when her grounding is lifted and Lauren flubs the dismount, she takes the position away from Lauren and gives it to Main Character. Later though, Best Friend announces Lauren as Homecoming Queen at the dance.
Chad
In Chapter 24, it is revealed that a few weeks after Main Character's fall from the pyramid, Best Friend is dating Chad. If Main Character says that she looks sad, Iris answers that she is worried about Best Friend grimacing while kissing him. Toni adds that Best Friend has never liked him. She breaks up with him in Chapter 37, stating that she has come to a realization about herself and that she doesn't want a boyfriend now. She adds that they both deserve to be someone's first choice but he is not hers.
Bayla
Best Friend meets Bayla through the Photography Club where they hit it off. Their banter makes Main Character feel uncomfortable and jealous but Best Friend doesn't appear to notice her discomfort. In Chapter 51, Bayla runs across Best Friend while the latter is touring colleges without Main Character. She asks if Best Friend is interested in women or men or both, and Best Friend confides in her that she is interested in women. Best Friend says Bayla is the first person she has ever told, and Bayla tells her that she herself has been out of the closet since she was in fifth grade and barely gets any grief about it. Bayla knows that Best Friend is interested in Main Character but can tell that she is indecisive; so she suggests that Best Friend find someone else.
In Chapter 52, when Main Character cannot come to a decision on who she wants to be with, she later discover that Best Friend and Bayla were making out behind the school bleachers. In Chapter 72, Best Friend tells Main Character that she and Bayla have split.
Even though they broke up, Best Friend will always be grateful to Bayla for letting her know that she wasn't alone.
Parents
Best Friend considers her parents to be "textbook middle class". They had master's degrees, inheritances, and stock portfolios, and they expected her to want to go to college. When Best Friend is unsure if she wants to, she purposely forgets to give her tuition check to Eastridge State University and procrastinates. She is afraid what her parents will think if she tells them that she doesn't think college will be a good fit for her.
In the end, her fears are unwarranted. When she tells them that college isn't for her, she presents a business plan to open a dance studio to them. Her father looks over it and both he and her mother decide to support her dreams, by using her college fund to help her get started.
