Bartholomew, a character in the Rules of Engagement series, is the CEO and Chairman of the Ember of the Sea Cruise Lines and Claire's father. He is first seen in Book 2, Chapter 19.

Appearance

Bartholomew has tanned skin, brown eyes and graying hair. He wears a gray pinstriped blazer over a white button-down shirt and a blue tie.

Claire is his daughter. She reveals in a premium scene of The Sophomore, Book 1, that he offered to get her into Yale and she declined, so she went to Hartfeld instead.

Antoine Pierce

Bartholomew is Antoine's brother.

Aunt (Mallory)

He seems to care for Mallory. When she almost drowned in Book 3, to rescue her daughter and Jess from the storm, he was worried about her condition. She invited him to Main Character's housewarming party together with his brother and daughter.

  • He shares the same first name as Bartholomew Chambers from the Desire & Decorum series.
  • His family shares the same surname as Dan Pierce from It Lives In The Woods and the default surname of MC from Ms. Match as well as her father.
  • The name Bartholomew is of Aramaic and English origin, which means: Son of Talmai, rich in land, furrows, mound, hill. Talmai is the Aramaic version of the Greek name Ptolemy (which means "warlike" or "aggressive").
    • The surname Pierce is of English and French origin, which means "rock". It's a variant of Piers, another version of the name Peter.
