Relationships
Baldur Valleros
From Aerin's recollections, King Arlan loved and doted upon his heir, Baldur, and basically ignored his younger son. As Baldur could do no wrong in Arlan's eyes, Arlan appeared to dismiss or devalue the treatment Baldur bestowed upon Aerin and allowed Baldur to go unchecked in his behavior. When Baldur is killed by Aerin and Aerin escapes into the Shadow Realm, Arlan is devastated about losing both his sons.
Aerin Valleros
He knew Aerin was troubled but never thought he would stoop to killing his own brother. If you captured Aerin in the Shadow Realm, Imtura drops him in front of Arlan and tells him that Aerin is his problem now. Arlan goes through various emotions at once: anger, pity, and sorrow. Arlan promises to have him face justice.
Your Character and Your Party
Although you know of King Arlan, you don't personally meet him until Chapter 14 when Aerin reveals his true colors. When your group prepares to follow Aerin to save Nia, Arlan asks if you can bring his boy back to him. He offers your group access to the armory where you have the premium option to get the Armor of the Dawnbringer, the armor that belonged to the Dawn Knight, his great-great-grandmother's bravest champion.
In Chapter 16, he welcomes your group back when you escape from the Shadow Realm, telling you that two weeks have passed since you entered. Arlan gets angry when Solerne accuses you to be traitors especially when you reveal Solerne's crimes and have him arrested. Arlan then declares your group to be "the heroes of our realm". The following day, King Arlan bestows medals to you and your friends. Arlan also pardons Mal from all his previous crimes. Threep (and Loola if you had rescued her) reveal(s) after the ceremony that Arlan appointed him/them the royal advisors in the development of his archives. King Arlan also granted him/them unlimited access to the royal larders in exchange.
